Remember gents we lost to FL by 25 (28-3) and still won a natty. Not saying that Rosie is Bernie at all. The fact is there is a full season ahead of us and a non conference loss in the first game is by no means an insurmountable obstacle to a great season. Let’s get the issues fixed (QB) and we can still run the table. Let’s put LSU behind us.

The irony in all of this is that the guy in your avatar who you are constantly slurping was the same guy everyone wanted fired after he went 5-6 in '97.

Next time we’ll see people saying hey at least it wasn’t a divisional loss.

And so on.

You're kidding right? Our o-line is below average and that is putting it nicely. Outside of Willis, our d-line is average to above average, and for those who say otherwise just look at how our team was gashed time and time again. No, this team is not anywhere near a top 10/playoff team

'83 team led the nation in yards allowed per pass attempt, which is always a pivotal category toward the national champion.

After the Florida debacle we were 4 point underdogs at Houston in the following game, and a couple of weeks later 1 point underdog hosting Notre Dame in prime time. That was it in terms of underdog status until the Orange Bowl against Nebraska at +11.5. We were double digit favorites in many games with the shortest favoritism -3 at Florida State in the regular season finale.

These days the path is considerably more difficult to pull off something like that, following an early setback. Even if we somehow run the table in the regular season then you are likely looking at significant underdog status to Clemson in the ACC title game, and then a debate toward final four berth if we defeated Clemson.

I'm going to cut myself off right there. ***** the path. The talent level dictates outcomes. '83 had truly great players like Jerome Brown and Alonzo Highsmigh and Eddie Brown and Bernie Kosar and probably others I am forgetting. This forum continually wants to pretend we either own that type of talent already, or are getting there. Meanwhile there is no evidence of that. When we have someone who looks like Reggie Wayne he suddenly is standing on the sideline a la Ahmmon Richards. Our defensive tackles aren't much of anything but they turn pro anyway. We get a touted athletic quarterback yet more than a year in I don't even know what jersey number he wears because he never actually plays.

I remember when we went to LSU as 7.5 point favorites in the '80s and made them look stupid. Alabama is capable of that right now. When we are capable of that again via legit supreme talent we can start talking national championship, or the preferred stupid abbreviation. Instead we're Happy Adjusting here while being mocked elsewhere, after that Sunday night debacle.

Just imagine if Florida or Florida State fell behind 33-3 in a nationally televised prime time opener, while 8th ranked and 3.5 point favorite. We would be howling if those fans somehow believed running the table toward national honors was feasible.

Man this is deja vu of the Golden regime and what fans would say to make themselves feel better.

First game had some really bad red flags.

I'm trying to stay optimistic but i'm shook right now
