Mensah = Point Guard

Mensah's ascent was one of most predictable things I've seen in college football in 30+ years. He's going to be at least a Heisman finalist and high 1st round pick with a decent chance he is both Heisman winner and #1 overall. Not just because he's individually talented but because of the insane weapons he has. He's going way over on both 4000 pass yards and 40 pass TDs this season

Beck played his *** off for us but his accuracy and decision making is not near cam or mensah. Id say cam arm talent is another level above mensah arm talent but i think mensah accuracy is clearly above cam accuracy. I think beck 100% healthy probably is 2nd in arm talent

Processing is super close, it’s too early to tell for the Miami tenure yet but based off pre miami i think cam has him slightly there but he had more responsibilities at previous spots than mensah had at duke/tulane so it’s tough to gauge so far

Beck is very, very accurate in the short and intermediate game.

Also, a lot of people (not saying you) don't really understand accuracy. It's not completion percentage. It's where the ball is placed. On a bubble, is the ball put on the upfield shoulder, where the receiver can run, or is it at the back knee, where he has to slow down? On a dig route, is the ball thrown slightly behind the WR so you don't carry his momentum into a Safety, where he gets his soul knocked out, or are you throwing hospital balls? The data on Beck was very, very, very impressive on Beck heading into last year. He was one of the most accurate QBs of the last 5+ years in college football. Last year, he just lacked the top end arm talent due to the injury, and he struggled throwing down the field. But he was very good in the short and intermediate game, and we shouldn't gloss over that. A lot of guys at this level are not.

But Back to Mensah, he's got that same ability. No matter what the route is, no matter who the receiver is, the ball is perfect. Literally. He's the first QB in the history of the sport to complete 90% of his passes for over 250 yards in the first 2 games of a season. Yes, I know we played a High School JV team and a bad ACC team, but I don't care. A lot of other players have as well, and they didn't do this. Completing 90+% of your passes on air in practice is impressive. Against humans on another team? Ridiculous start to the year.

I made this analogy on the show a bunch and actually asked Mensah about it.

Cam Ward was a combo guard- pounds the ball and makes the play at the end. There's a reason he was his high school's leading scorer. Carson Beck was a catcher- runs the show, calls the game, quick release and drives the ball. Darian Mensah is a pass-first point guard.

The way they played other sports mirrors how they play football.

So how much will it cost to keep Dawson as the OC? It is not a coincidence that Dawson is turning good QB’s into great QB’s who get drafted very high.
 
I thought mensah would slot in right between cam and beck. Seems he’s closer to cam but with insane talent to throw to.

Cam had restrepo jacolby arroyo Horton brown

Mensah has Mali barkate Upshaw Moore lofton with Mali being the unquestioned top guy in either group

Mensah is that dude. Solid as heck. Accurate. Will take off and run or hit the check down. His arm is stronger than i thought also

I never thought I would see a run of quarterbacks like the golden years. But these last few have a very good chance of being my favorite groups of hurricane quarterbacks
