Ran across some old College Football preseason magazines in the basement and it got me thinking back to the 1990's and early 2000's.

Canes won a lot - 81-16 in Big East conference games from 1991 through 2003 before leaving for the ACC,

But I never gave two flips about playing any of those schools with the two exceptions of VA Tech and WVU. The rest — Boston College, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse and Temple? Great big yawn. No hard feelings, but fine if we never saw them again.

Other than on-field success, any positives about Big East football I'm forgetting?

A life lesson: I never ever ever ever imagined we’d spend 20-plus years without an ACC championship and only appear in the title game once. (And get destroyed in that one.)

Mannnn…. Donovan McNabb and ‘Cuse did us dirty in ‘98. Those Syracuse games with him and Marvin Graves before him were good.

Same with some of those WVU games

Good call on Cuse.

Just something about Northeast teams seemed like Triple-A ball to me.

WVU and VA Tech fans were way more hardcore about football -- and their stadium environments reflected it

QB Marvin Graves. Wasn’t he the QB right before McNabb? Or maybe right after him. But he was pretty good.
He was before McNabb… two guys I played against in HS were apart of Syracuse’s ‘96 class so I watched a good amount of Syracuse games in the late 90’s. We all know how the late 90’s were for us

Big east was so *** as a conference if it’s still existed today, we’d be in worse shape than we are with the ACC other than we won a lot then which we might start doing now

Escaping Rutgers w dorsey

Graves and the McNabb. Leaving at halftime during route and drinking 44s til it dried out
Also going to McNabbs birthday at the tower uninvited. Yeah, we didnt stay long

Lockeroom w grassy, meeting ray ray and tossing the football w Tony Dorsett on the field at Pitt

Watching the costa family throw hands w "God knows who" at that dump known as Franklin field. One year, a whole section was closed because the facade was falling off the top of the bowl

Taking the green and matching pancakes and guiness at 6a after getting off bus in Boston. Scorpion Bowls at Hong Kongs. Listening to the most vicious brawl ever outside hotel room near Fleet Center.

WVU. Just feeling uncomfortable entire time (twice) batteries and fights in the stands
Watching the miracle return to win and the yanks beat the Braves in some total WVU bar and screaming for joy. Subsequently, bouncer said he could not guarantee our safety after pur outburst

Enter sandman. Great fans. Odd campus. Only like 3 bars at the time, one was a surf bar. Lol.
Nowhere to stay, so the boys went hunting. Needed a place for three. Low and behold, the quietest of group landed us a trio of phillies and breakfast. Mmmm

I remember struggling vs Rutgers in 02. Imagine if this board was around then.

I just wanted to keep winning. It was objectively a silly league.

Good years for Cuse. I don’t know why they dropped off so far.

I always say that horrible ‘98 game set the stage for the UCLA game, which was amazing.
The craziest 2 game stretch IMO in UM history. We give 60+ to Cuse, and then beat the #2 team in the country in a wild game. How Butch got UM ready after the Cuse game should be studied by scientists.
