Insider, but here's the spark notes: not a single 'Cane. Not to beat a dead horse, and I think the coaching still leaves a lot to be desired, but it is pretty inarguable that there has been a MAJOR talent deficit around here.

With our recruiting base there should never be a year without Canes on this list, regardless of our W/L record...and this is the last draft where Randy gets credit/blame for our eligible guys.

Destructive administration + horrible coaching for dozen years + resulting decline recruiting = crappy team full of so so players. Next year we have players getting press -- DP, Duke, Tracy, and Flowers so maybe talent is getting better, but coaching needs to show up on the field and scoreboard this year.
 
I mean i understand your point and all by lack of talent in the draft from Miami but i dont need ESPN insider to know that we dont have any "Athletes" coming out this year. this Article is not about Talent its about players who stand out and may even can play multiple positions for their Position such as Logan Thomas who most people see as a TE and Dernard Robinson the official "OW. he also noted Clowney who is a physical freak at 6'5 260 and running a 4.47. also Kiper suck A$$ every which way when it comes to evaluating talent
 
don't think much of him as an evaluator anymore. use to get his books when he was legit. that dude get's paid by agents to hype up whatever player they represent. think about jimmy clausen being his number 1 qb or trent richardson being a can't miss. lost his credibility when he sold his services to the highest bidder

A quarterback that actually got drafted last year. That's something we've only had two of the last 20 years…let that **** sink in. Furthermore…we haven't had a DT taken in the top three rounds in ten years with no end in sight. It's laughable that people want to make an argument that we have talent, but it's just not being developed right. Look at all of the guys who entered the league since 2005 that played HS football in south Florida and went elsewhere. That's your problem.

As much as I hate to think about it…what if we had just these guys:
Teddy Bridgewater
Gio Bernard
Sammy Watkins
Amari Cooper

Then swap out all the JAGs we've had at DT the last eight plus years and throw a few studs in there…talking about guys the SEC wanted bad. If we had the aforementioned guys the last three years…we wouldn't be talking as much about coaching and development.
 
Louis Nix was in the fold at one time as well. Talk about a guy who could have changed our fortunes over the last 3 years.

I was told in another thread that this was just an excuse for not liking a coach on either side of the ball.

And Kiper is a fraud. Easiest job at ESPN, with zero accountability.
 
you mean we are here discussing this guys evaluation of players. Why not discuss his ability to keep the same hair for 20+ years

duke and VT pushed our **** in....

they arent bama or FSU

its a coaching staff with an emphasis on the scheme
 
Does everyone forget the actual WAY we lost the VT game? It was a perfect sh1tstorm of mistakes/turnovers that just fvcked us over. VT didn't exactly push us around the field the whole night and dominate us. We dug a hole for ourselves in that game and got beat. It wasn't like we played our best, and still got the brakes beat off of us. We played like ****, spotted them about 4 scores, and lost by 3 scores.

That game was a matter of protecting the football and executing better more than anything. We weren't out-talented in that game. Plus, VT got every single lucky-*** bounce in that game. Burns/Coley fumbling on big returns, O'Donnell taking a knee on a low snap, and the worst one...remember when Byrne had that long catch and run, Gunter punched out the ball at the 10, and VT STILL recovered it in the endzone for the TD? That was probably the most maddening play all season long, to me.

Anyway...enough of that. My point is that it's not a talent deficit against teams like VT/Duke--we have the advantage there, even with Duke having a great season, we're still a more talented roster. We simply need to execute better when we step on the field. If we can do that on both sides of the ball, with our talent, we're fine against those types of teams. You can be 10 times more talented than the guys on the other sideline, but if you do nothing but shoot yourself in the foot, you're going to lose to those guys every single time. See U***/Georgia Southern.

Now, when you start trying to compare our talent to the Bama/LSU/F$U's of the world, there's a major deficit there. It either has to be bridged via better coaching or better recruiting. I'll give you 3 guesses as to which one of those is more likely to happen if Golden sticks around.

Despite Al's shortcomings, we'll be better represented in the next few drafts...
