Megaconference free-for-alls are idiotic

You can't have a 17-team conference where the top 2 get to the title game. It makes the tiebreakers to absurd.

If Miami, Clemson, and SMU all run the table in conference, someone is getting screwed.

ACC needs to have 4 pods (5-4-4-4).

—The teams in each pod play one another
—Have one crossover game every year (e.g. Miami vs FSU)
—Rotate the other opponents
—Lose one cupcake nonconference game (e.g. FAMU or Ball State)
—11-game regular season
—Have a mini ACC tourney among the 4 pod winners

Conference winner still only has to play 13 games before the playoffs.

This eliminates shenanigans that could unfold this year.

If Miami, Clemson, and SMU went undefeated in conference play we would not be the ones getting screwed since we went undefeated in out of conference play. Like if we missed ACC Champ game we're in the CFP still.

Or Miami could beat all the slouches on the schedule and this never is an issue.

I had an idea of maybe splitting it into two divisions. One could be the schools that are on the Atlantic coast. The other could be schools that are in the geographical area near the Atlantic Ocean, but not on the coast. Still haven’t come up with names for the divisions yet.

Divisions is objectively worse.

Pods/divisions were specifically eliminated because in a "our house puts forward our champion" system (e.g. conferences putting forth their champion and + to post season), pods will be stronger than others thereby guaranteeing a week rep against a strong rep in conference championship tilts.

The free-for-all now, though imperfect, is superior.

Not a fan of devisions but the biggest problem with adding the additional teams is the delusion of some schedules. Some ACC schedules are pathetic, ours included.
