I don’t know why ppl on here think terrible football players with terrible football instincts will be better players playing a different position??
At the end of the day, he can't read/react. That's more instinct then coaching (although our scheme isn't great for LB's). He was explosive early on in his career. If he can find that, it might translate to DE. Don't disagree though.

I expect a big year. He officially has “dad strength” now at his age.

Go back and watch some "highlights" of Allen Bailey trying to play MLB his freshman year. Or watch Sam Shields trying to catch passes until his senior one. Yes, it happens.

They said the same thing about Trent Harris

This is like the 3rd time I’ve seen someone say this. Trent Harris? Trent Harris never played LB here. Why do ya’ll keep saying this? He was always an edge guy, even as a true freshman playing that BS standup edge that D’No had on one side of the front. He was never an off the ball LB here who looked lost like McCloud did outside of his FR year. Trents first year he didn’t do anything because he didn’t play much until the end of the year but year 2 he had a few sacks and they increased every year until he left.

Ummmmm sorry boss but Trent Harris absolutely played some MLB here. I forget what year it was but I remember him being in there. I think that’s where he got the name tool box Trent from

Tool Box Trent is because he was an absolute technician with his hands and an extremely polished pass rusher despite being barely 6’2 and probably 235 pounds soaking wet.

I don’t remember him playing MLB AT ALL. Could I be wrong? Sure, but I’m only 30 and I don’t think my memory is failing me already. Trent played sparingly his true freshman year but made his first start against Pitt at the end of the year and I just looked it up, he was indeed playing the edge front spot (and getting absolutely washed too). Find some film of him playing MIKE and I will admit I am wrong but again, I don’t remember that at all. Even if he did, he only did it for 1 year and moved full time to end his 2nd year and it was definitely the right move. Much different than McCloud moving to a position after 5 years (to the previous posters point, not yours).

I remember it being MLB but it might have been as a will. However i remember we used him there for a few games early in his career when we were in a pinch. he performed decently too.

However i'm not going back and pouring over a few years of film. I have a life my friend and that isn't it!

Lol

“Pouring over a few years of film”. All I did was a simple highlight search on YouTube fam, but go off. Good talk.

It was obvious Bailey and Sam Shields had talent though… McCloud has none.

You’re confusing Trent Harris with Mike Smith… started out at DE moved to MLB and was solid playing 2nd string behind Shaq. Mike Smith is a much better fb player than Zach McCloud.

If it’s so easy then you can do it too right?
But good talk fam

You are the one trying to prove the LB point, not me. I see him playing plenty of edge like I said, none of him playing MLB. Or is it Will? At first you said MLB, then you said Will so I’m not sure?

No, i'm not.

Not in the least. Tool Box took snaps, in games, at one of the two LBs in No D's system. Wasn't a lot, but he played there.

All I remember was people complaining about Trent Harris and Tyrique McCord covering receivers in the flats.
