Is this before or after we heard that the players were told a decision would be made today??

this report came out yesterday...and I am not sure when the players being notified info. came out or what was the source, but usually any "players being notified" comment is seen as an inside joke anyways.

I just do not get how this is a well run interview situation. There are way too many schools that have lost coaches prior to us and just found their guy very quickly. Yet here we are scrambling around trying to get interviews and keep it under wraps. You want to avoid leaks and rumors? Get the man job DONE! Pick a guy and hire him, pay him what he wants. If he plays games move on. Don't be the ***** for the fourth straight hire!

Agree. IMHO it has been relatively well run. They have money on the table this time, they are including good football minds in the decision making process (supposedly), they hired a top notch head hunting firm to assist, and they have assembled a pretty good list of final candidates for the job. The least desirable coaching candidate on it coached two years in the NFL (I don't consider Mario a serious candidate). This process is light-years ahead of what the university has done in the last 3 coaching searches. But all that really matters is if they get the right guy or not.

You are right. Process is better. The problem is it looks like the objective is the same -- Avoid at all cost anything that might have the slightest chance of returning us to being Miami Hurricanes. We must remain Miami Nice. Let's face it, Donna the ***** won.

Dan Mullen is on the list. Butch is on the list. Nothing especially nice about these guys. Richt is serious about being a Christian, but his program hasn't been squeaky clean. Just well managed. I disagree that we are playing Miami Nice.

If they pick Butch I would agree. At this point it appears they only considered him to appease us. If we are lucky, in the end everyone else turns them down and we get "stuck" with Butch again. I do not know enough about Mullen to comment. Al had plenty of problem players too -- he was still soft as they come.

Richt isn't soft. He is a pleasant guy, but then again so was JJ. The knock on Richt is the same as the one for Butch. Blows a game or two each year. Mullen sure as **** isn't soft.

Did you ever met JJ when he was at the U? Maybe we differ on our meaning of soft. I saw JJ take Jerome Brown, RIP, to the ground by the face mask and stand over him with finger in his grill screaming at the poor kid. That is NOT soft. Don Shula was a pleasant, wonderful man. I sat next to him at daily Mass frequently. But the old Dolphins were scared to death of young Don Shula.

None of JJ's or Shula's players thought them to be evil, but they did everything they could to never, never, ever **** either of them off. I bet you Mark's players are not afraid of him at all. Listen, he is a good coach and will win a lot of games here. He will win the coastal, if that is what is important to you. Heck, he will bet noles sometimes and even win the ACC. But win the NC? Nope. For that, his players have to go out and beat a team that IS scared to death of its coach.
