maybe old news

I gotta say, this coaching search has better " names" but it's being run like a poorly orchestrated circus

The longer this goes (and I mean by hours not days) the less likely Richt is coming to Miami. I think if Richt doesn't announce today we scramble for a second choice or start looking at the NFL options.

I don't know if it's being run poorly. People are desperate for news, and will belive any and all rumors. There are plenty of fake insiders who are eager to feed us guesses disguised as inside info. I don't know that it's any different at other schools.

Again, I wouldn't just assume that Richt was offered. Every day, after a new guy is interviewed, the rumor is that he was offered and it's his if he wants it. I choose not to believe any of it. I think they interview several before making anyone an offer. JMO

If it is going to take until Sunday now let's hope Texas don't all of a sudden decide to get rid of Strong Saturday after their game

New names are entering the picture.

One is Mike Leach.

The guy has coveted this job for 10 years.

He was just named PAC 12 coach of the year.

Where are the new names coming from? If more people are getting interviewed then that must mean Richt said no and none of the other three are going to be offered job

It is obvious that Canes fans (myself included) are so desperate for something good to happen that we latch onto every rumor and spend every waking minute refreshing our browser to see what latest tidbit we can pick up...

I can't get **** done at work, so this hire needs to happen ASAP so nobody notices...if it goes too long people will start to ask questions

Agree. IMHO it has been relatively well run. They have money on the table this time, they are including good football minds in the decision making process (supposedly), they hired a top notch head hunting firm to assist, and they have assembled a pretty good list of final candidates for the job. The least desirable coaching candidate on it coached two years in the NFL (I don't consider Mario a serious candidate). This process is light-years ahead of what the university has done in the last 3 coaching searches. But all that really matters is if they get the right guy or not.

You are right. Process is better. The problem is it looks like the objective is the same -- Avoid at all cost anything that might have the slightest chance of returning us to being Miami Hurricanes. We must remain Miami Nice. Let's face it, Donna the ***** won.

Dan Mullen is on the list. Butch is on the list. Nothing especially nice about these guys. Richt is serious about being a Christian, but his program hasn't been squeaky clean. Just well managed. I disagree that we are playing Miami Nice.

If they pick Butch I would agree. At this point it appears they only considered him to appease us. If we are lucky, in the end everyone else turns them down and we get "stuck" with Butch again. I do not know enough about Mullen to comment. Al had plenty of problem players too -- he was still soft as they come.

Richt isn't soft. He is a pleasant guy, but then again so was JJ. The knock on Richt is the same as the one for Butch. Blows a game or two each year. Mullen sure as **** isn't soft.

If Richt turns us down and I think he will, I don't know that any of the three remaining names are palatable for everyone in the search. Wouldn't be surprised if they scramble to find another candidate.
