I'd say there are two levels of bias inherent in rankings:
(1) winning programs are given the benefit of the doubt (e.g. an Alabama offer will boost a player's credibility regardless of the substance on film)
(2) for some services, size of fanbase/market (e.g. who's going to buy more subscriptions or provide more clicks?)
If so, pretty natural for it to happen. After all, the purpose of these services isn't just to be "correct," it's to sell to their market(s).
