Tonata is, obviously, also trying to find what is right for him at the next level. The recruiting process is ramping up, and Tonata is prepared to navigate a busy fall. Trips will begin soon, and visit plans are already changing.
"So, I'm going to reschedule my
BYU visit," Tonata said. "I'm going to be at
Miami on October 17, they play
Florida State that weekend. That'll be a fun game. My next one, for sure, will be
Texas A&M. Definitely going for that one."
Tonata's plans could be a bit fluid with so many programs in pursuit.
"I'd definitely say
Oregon and
USC, a lot of the west coast schools (are showing love)," Tonata said. "But, definitely Miami in there as well. All those guys there, definitely showing that love and I just appreciate those guys."
Tonota stopped by Miami over the summer for a camp and a visit, an overall experience that has the Canes right in the thick of the race.
"I just look at the game a little bit different after that, compared to how I used to look at it before," Tonata said. "Coach
Alex Mirabal gave me different sets on what to do, all based on where a guy is or what he's doing, just giving me these different tips. I put that in my inventory, and now I'm using that on the field."
This type of mentorship and development being applied firsthand is still on the mind of Tonata. It's played a primary role in him fitting Miami into the slate.
