Mateer

I agree on the run part but Dawson isn’t running Malzahn’s offense or anything heavily relying on the QB as a +1. From watching him he seems wildly inconsistent based on his feet more than his hand. When I find highlights, he’s ripping throws all over, but often it’s quick, RPO, first read. To me, if he’s not on the move or throwing 1st read, he gets super erratic
Go watch what Dawson did with Clayton tune . He also used the qb run when at S Miss. Gus runs a power qb run type offense , using zone reads and designed qb runs isn’t anything like a Malzahn offense. That offense is based off that , with Mateer you use his legs to keep defenses honest which opens everything else up

I was going off half his OU highlights being QB gap scheme runs

Hey big head, want $6M?
I wish but it would never happen now. You would have to hate your team and teammates to enter the portal at the 11th hour.

The current team would have no way of replacing you. With Simpson Bama already had a guy ready so he was essentially pushed out

I watched him quite a bit last year and there’s times where he looks absolutely incredible, and then other times where he threw some of the dumbest, most boneheaded interceptions. How much of that can be attributed to the injury he had I’m not sure because he definitely didn’t look like the same guy after that. I would absolutely rather have him at QB than rolling with what we have, no question.

I think the injury and their Oline were major factors. I think if he could go back in time only knowing more information on the o-line quality and Toney, he would have chosen us,

They didn’t have much of a run game outside of Mateer either. Really lacked weapons in the pass game. Overall the offense was cheeks.

I absolutely cannot stand his sidearm/shortstop throwing motion. It makes it impossible to throw between defenders because he can’t drop the ball in between them. He would need to change his motion. Bryce Underwood has the same issue and both are inconsistent and throw a lot of INT’s.
