Its not the advantage many think, at least not normally. It’s helpful here and there, but most helpful when you wind up in UM’s situation, but that’s rare. You need a bunch of empty scholarships and a lack of good HS options after early signing day. Otherwise you take the kid who will give you multiple years and who you know well. The new rules limiting flexibility around the 25 new counters makes transfers riskier. [The exception is QB, IMO, where for a lot of reasons good kids transfer with plenty of eligibility remaining.]If the SEC schools find out the portal is an advantage for The U, they will be lined up at the NCAA office waiting to get it changed
These guys from the west side cares more about the U than most of these kids who live down here

The last thing we want is to hang around the hoop hoping for cast offs from programs that out recruit us on NSD. That is not a recipe for success.
To be clear, given our needs, this year it’s a no brainer. But I’d guess that 3 or fewer transfers total is what to expect outside of a year like this.
No
It's jaelen Phillips. The overall #1 prospect out of High school in 2017. A DE that plays at UCLA. #40 highest player ever rated by 247
Hope not. When we are back, we will not have much room for those kids.I agree. By no means do I want Miami to be known as Transfer U or Portal U. I do think u will start to see kids who come from here or want to live in Miami transfer more often. Elite talent too, not your JAGS.

We do not need to be second chance U for kids who leave to play in the SEC.
I’d guess that starting with 2021, we’ll take ~1 grad transfer, 1 undergrad transfer and 1 juco kid a year, on average. Maybe a second juco if there is a good one. Personally, I’d like to see us get back to targeting more Juco DLs.
Hopefully with sustained success on the field and signing quality out of state players our local tri county kids will put some respect on our offers. These guys from the west side cares more about the U than most of these kids who live down here
She looks like Tathan in the face.Martells sister is our ace![]()

We agree completely. But some folks have been talking about the portal as some new strategy. Just pointing out it’s more like wound care for teams coming off a richtover.I dont think long term that Diaz is going to turn UM into Kansas St on South Beach. This is just a stop gap to stem the flooding from the shipRicht he took over. To me, this shows that Manny 'gets it'.

The kid from UCLA is visiting this weekend! He was the #1 D end
Check out @TheTateMartell’s Tweet:
Portal recruiting is different though, now More talented players are becoming available with multiple years left which is much different than just a grad transfer that would only be here for a year. That talent pool will only keep getting better and Miami will be an attractive destination regardless. Getting guys like martell and bolden is just the start, we absolutely have to capitalize on our advantage with thisI love this as a supplement to the roster but if you're making this your bread and butter, long-term it will be tough to sustain anything. Im actually very interested to see how Diaz can salvage the upcoming signing day...
