Anyone else kind of intrigued by Gayot?

Seems like he'd be a good candidate to play some nickel linebacker.

He should have red-shirted last year, and now they are wasting another one of his years plugging him into a hybrid role. The kid is a SS all the way, and should be coached up as such not bulked up to a be a 6'1" 216lbs linebacker which we have all agreed LB's under 230lbs can be a liability.

Waste of a talent

Had he stuck with his commitment to Louisville, he'd be a beast strong safety

Except we are fairly deep at safety. If he can see the field quicker at LB this makes some sense.

I think he's in line for quite a bit of PT if anyone goes down.

If I had to POWER RANK the LBs in order of how much I think they'll play:

Grace
Kirby
Owens
McCord
Gayot
Gordinier
Young
Perry
King
Smith
McCray

Any player especially a defensive player from south FL that Charlie Strong liked interests me.

I'm shocked that you are allowed to type his name here on CiS without any censorship.

red shirt is kind of overrated in this day and time kids are coming into college ready to play

We need linebackers that can cover. We knew Gayot was a tweener coming in. I think he's a good safety, but in the long term he will be better at linebacker. I think you're going to see Gayot play at around 230-235 the next 2 years at Will. Plus it adds much needed depth to the LB core.
