Mark Walton Declares For The Draft

Best of luck to him. Be surprised to see him go before round 5 as well. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him become a UDFA. He is good no doubt. But the way Yearby just got plain old left out in the cold makes me worry for him. I’d have thought yearby would’ve at least gotten a camp invite. Hopefully he runs a real good time.

3 out of our last 4 RBs will be running the ball in the NFL next year and with Homer and Lo that trend should continue....

Year by us nowhere near the " football player " Walton is. Or athlete.

He's an elite special teams player, he won't be in the same boat as Yearby, bet dat.

There were nearly 30 RBs taken in last years draft.

It would take an absolute complete disaster of an offseason for Walton not to get drafted.

I'd say 4th round pick.

Should have come back. I don't usually advocate for doing so but... Given his size & injury he will be lucky to go 3rd Round. Probably 4th-6th unless he blows it up at the combine. Could have broke records, won a ship, been in Heisman talk and got into the 1st or 2nd round next year.

18 Depth
Lingard
Homer
Dallas *Probably more WR next year
Davis
Burns **If he's let out of protective bubble
Gray
Atkins

Duke went in the 3rd; Lamar in the 4th. 3rd round seems about right for Mark. He'll be a good pro and brings value if drafted in the 3rd. No surprise on this one. Hope he recovers well.

I doubt he is any higher than late 4th. Coming off an injury, small and slow is not what teams are looking for. His work at a high level warrants giving the guy a shot in camp but I doubt much more than special teams or deep depth chart role is in his NFL future.

I agree, I’m just saying the way he just got shut out was surprising to me. I agree I think he will find a spot, but is this a mike James career or Lamar miller? Probably somewhere in between maybe? I’d urge the kid to stay and get a degree personally. That degree is going to help you for the 35 years after your done playing. Hopefully he gets into a good team that uses him well and makes some good money.

Hope it works for him, tough to come into the draft with a leg injury.

Best of luck to him. Teams thought he could slide into the 2nd round prior to injury. Locked in as a 3rd or 4th rounder & coming back would not have been beneficial.

Are all possible to leave early

Out of those others, the only one to go in the first 3rds would be RJ. No one else has any reason to leave early!

Jaquan could be early day 3 pick(4th round)
Mike Jackson could go higher due to his speed and measurables

This is a mistake. Mark has been a very good RB for Miami but he isn't Willis McGahee or Leonard Fournette that can get drafted high coming off an injury. I don't think he would have gone higher than the 3-4 round if he was healthy. Given the injury, he will be fortunate to go in the the last couple of rounds.

I don't think any of our other players (except maybe RJ) should even think about going pro at this point as they are not elite talents and they also are not ready (and most of them wouldn't even get drafted -- remember Marcus Forston (who should have waited)). JJ is a very good player for us but he doesn't have elite speed. He should follow Ed Reed's path and stay to compete next year for a MNC & then have a much better shot at getting drafted in a decent round.

lol no.

They should be waiting for their draft grades first. These kids still haven't learned...

I said it’s possible, not that they are defintiely going to leave early

All I need is Cam Davis and Lorenzo Lingard.

You're giving me Homer on top of it? Its all good.

With that said...South Florida backs (no matter where they go to college) usually exceed draft value and end up better than backs drafted ahead of them. Mark Walton (and Sony Michel at Georgia) will be no different. I expect them to be good, solid pros.

He’ll make a roster on his incredible special teams play. Then he’ll eventually get a chance to carry the ball when guys get hurt.

His special teams alone will have dude making a good living , which will open the door for him to eventually being a contributor at rb , if not starter / rotational guy. No doubt in my mind , no problem with him leaving early.

Hopefully he doesn't get drafted it it's too late , where he can pick the best spot.

Walton will absolutely make a roster. He's already got film being a demon on special teams.

They KNOW he can tackle in space on special teams and block. And if they need him to run and catch, he can do that, too.

I know he’ll go in the draft, but he’s going to have to settle for a smaller rookie contract because of the injury.
