Mark Stoops

I'm sorry, but didn't Mark Stoops already epically fail at Arizona??!

As a head coach? That was Mike. He was their DC, then went to FSU as DC, now at Kentucky.

Mark was a db coach for us 2001-2003, I think. Coached Ed Reed, Sean T, PBuch, Rumph, maybe Rolle?

reed was a finished product by the time stoops got there. chuck pagano coached him.

True, he didn't make 20EReed the phenomenon that he was... Pagano was obviously a solid db coach. Just saying that Stoops was here during the last great run, and he had some real input on the greatest string of db's UM has ever had.

And... he helped them keep their aggressive edge. None of this wait and hope the guy drops the ball bs that we've seen recently.

Oh yeah...I remember him now. Man, like I told my other Cane Bro, when I saw the M and Stoops, I became scared of our desperation. lol. But yeah, I'm all for this. I said on another thread that if they don't have true SEC ties or UM ties, I'm not interested in their service. Mark was here before and I think we will give us a major face life. He and Pruitt would be my 1a and 1b guys to take over.

Mark is currently in the middle of epically failing at Kentucky. His second year defense gave up 400 yards to UT-Martin on Saturday.

Yeah, but they won by 40+ and UT whoever didn't score til the 4th qtr. Kentucky is not exactly a hotbed of football talent.

They had they're 3rd string in for the whole 2nd half, and they already look like a completely different team than they did to years ago.
exactly

I've watched quite a bit of UK football the past two years boys and Stoops has proven nothing other than recruiting skills.
Look up stats, look up results, look it all up because his team quit on him last year a few weeks short of a season.

And UT-Martin lost their last game last year 70-22 to Eastern Illinois.

Fair enough. I haven't watched any UK football since 1 or 2 series with that big mfer Jared Lorenzen. I'll take your word for that.

Say all Stoops can do is recruit... well, that's what we have now, except without the offense. I personally think Stoops has a much bigger upside than Golden when it comes to Xs & Os, plus I hate hate hate the wait and see defensive philosophy that Golden is all about. Stoops teams for better or worse will take their shots.

Just my take. My hope is that Stoops has some real success at UK, and we are fortunate enough to get him here in the next season or so.

Hey, if he's a a great coach then I want him in Miami. Just let him prove it first.

He knows defense, he knows how to recruit, he knows SFlorida.

UK is a very difficult place to win, he took over a 2-10 team who won 4 SEC games in the 3 years prior. Its going to take him awhile.

2009: FSU was 108th in total defense
Stoops Hired
2010: 42nd
2011: 4th
2012: 2nd

Dave Aranda please

I have been screaming about this guy coming to UM for two years now as the new DC. AG can stay in pace as the defacto HC/CEO but let the DC run the defense his way, not to mention he can teach AG his attacking 3-4 scheme. Aranda runs a 3-4 scheme that is based on speed and movement with athletes on every level, and would be lights out with miami's athletes. This guy preaches getting pressure with 3 downlinemen and a 4 rusher coming from anywhere on the field. An he will bring a 5th guy if needed to get pressure on the QB.

The best part is UM can afford this guy right now. He is in the last year of his 2 yr contract with Wisconsin, and they had to break the assistant coach bank budget to pay him the first time around. Not to mention Wisconsin can only offer 2 yr contracts which was one of Beliemi's biggest gripes with the administration.
