Mark Richt will NOT be fired or step down

I’m not saying I agree with Richt being kept a long time. I’m just stating the facts.

It’s almost a rule of thumb at most places (not just Miami) that coaches are kept for a year or 2 longer than the fans want them to be kept. In a large part this is because the school, not the fans, has to pay the buyout.

And because the trustees and university presidents who sign the checks generally have very little interest in football.

Miami’s issue is that we hire these coaches, and we don’t give them the support staff they need to succeed.

I don’t believe for a minute that Dabo Sweeny, for example, is some great coach. Yabo Dabo is a goofball.

The difference between Clemson and Miami right now is the coordinators, position coaches, infrastructure and support staff.

We won’t get better as a football team or as a university until the BOT adopts a growth mentality....it takes money to make money, and upfront investments pay for themselves.

We could hire Nick Saban tomorrow and we would still lose random games. It takes more than just a head coach.

Have to call BS on your call on hiring of support staff...

Richt of all previous coaches, was given the prerogative to hire who he wanted.... he chose to hire the current staff... a bunch of family and friends club of inept yes-men.

So it is his own doing.... don't pull that bs line anymore!! It may have been true for previous regimes, not for this..

If Miami was the Harvard of the South, about 70% of our football team would wash out in 3 semesters. It's a decent undergrad, very good in fact. Grad school a tad better. The top rated programs certainly deserve so.

Harvard is still Harvard but all the Ivy Leagues are carried away with themselves regardless.

She succeeded in making us the Harvard of the South??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We are the Clemson of the—further south—58th in the nation.

A zebra doesnt change its stripes and UM will never be some academic destination. Its a decent school in an amazing location that used to have a one of a kind football team. Thats about it.

OP replace Harvard with "Stanford of the south" and her actually accomplishing it and you would make a better point. That is probably the on going mission of the university.

Its been the mission for decades and despite 2 billion dollars and every manipulation in the book we were back where we started.

We arent even better than OSU academically, abd yet they still kill the football program acting like it will “damage our standing”. Unreal stupidity and arrogance.

I don't think Richt is exhausted. He is surely deflated because of the last two losses but I don't think he has given up by any means. If he has continued recruiting success who knows what this program will look like in the future. There are obvious problems that need to be fixed but Richt is going nowhere. Considering he gave a million dollars of his own money towards the new practice facility I would think there is no thought among the administrators of getting rid of him at this pint.

USA Today just confirmed made thread!

Those Miami fans asking for a coaching change aren’t going get it. Miami is all in with Richt, and he’s going to get every opportunity to make things right. But there’s no doubt this season has been a massive blow to the narrative that Richt is a different guy than he was at Georgia, a development that puts Miami No. 1 in the Misery Index, a weekly measurement of knee-jerk reactions based on what each fan base just watched. “

How quickly Miami fans forget!

When President Foote stepped down and Shalala stepped in, her directions from the Board were clear “make Miami the Harvard of the South” In her tenure she accomplished that and so much more! She increased attendance, graduation and she tried to eliminate Miami’s football tradition. So we hired Golden, a white shirt, tie wearing white guy from the Northeast. Golden would have never been fired if it was not for the embarrassing Clemson loss

So here comes Mark Richt, a clean cut, Christian man, who is the marketing face for the new U. He has embraced Miami, minority families love him, has donated monies to the university, and is keeping the goals of the university moving forward! Recruitment is great and students are graduating and not getting in trouble.

The best the fans are getting is a new OC! He is the football CEO and he will remain in Miami until he retires!

Stop wasting your breath, texting energy and being angry, your words do not matter!

Foote started upgrading Miami academically in the eighties. He had clashes with Johnson and Erickson about that. I know this fanbase has a problem with the school being worth a ****, but for us that actually attended the institution, it's something that should happen. Miami should be a top tier academic institution, and the football program has to go along with the program. No one is saying that you can't have winning football and high end academics, but this school will never be managed like Alabama. The school doesn't exist solely to service the football program. That said, Miami should be better than what they are right now. Period.
