I know losing to LSU sucked ***. We can question coaching decisions and we should within the eb and flow of the season. In the end though, having our team stacked with players is what will take us back to prominence and i see that happening slowly but surely.
All 11 starters in UGA title game on D were recruited by Mark Richt, Chubb and Michel were recruited by Mark Richt. The guy knows talent. I look at the '20 recruiting class and that thing is gonna be lit. We need to and will get back to when we step on the field we overmatch 85% of the schedule at every position and match the other 15% of the opponents. There are not too many genius coaches. When Saban plays teams that match his team, the games are normally close. The thing is how many teams can realistically match them? Players win games.

Butch Davis wasn't such a genius at scheming, he just knew what the team supposed to look like. Our team is struggling now because we still have Golden players in the upper class and these players were alot of average players coming out of high school and then indoctrinated in bad teachings. If you search almost every position on our team, OL, RB, Safety, QB, the underclassmen and back ups are way better in talent than the starters, and im talking elite talent that any top 10 school would want. Saban flew a chopper to try prying Gurvan Hall away from us for example.

We must within our anger resist the urge to compare Richt to Golden, sorry i went to the VT and ND game and Golden woulda gotten smashed by both teams, we smashed them, seems like ages ago but that did happen. We now need consistency. Clemson that everyone fawns over, you realize Dabo was there and got beat at home by Shannon and Jacory? They got 70 put on them in a bowl game. Things changed when they started recruiting in the top 5 and top 10, we must get back there, magic coaching cannot get us out of this funk, we are gonna consistently be around top 10-15, we need the special players and a bunch of them to get pass the Wisconsins and LSU'S who themselves get overmatched by Bama and OSU. That's where we are. I expect this team to improve over the season, if we were a terrible team we woulda folded tent v LSU and got 50 put on us.

Last thing ima say, no team from Florida ever went wrong by getting the best players from the state and that's what we are doing. Once FSU started recruiting all those 5 star out of state players it was over for them. We must in this hunger to get back to elite enjoy this process as well as fans, not blind loyalty of course but be fair to the players and coaches as well. We will be back like the electric bill.

Honestly, I stopped here.

Do we need a team "stacked with players" to beat inferior teams like Pitt?

Do we need a team "stacked with players" to beat coaches who are atrocious retreads?

Do we need a team "stacked with players" to make coaching changes to correct obvious issues?

Excellent points.

Guys like Nesta, Lingard, Polk, Hightower are players we have not had in a while. The Storm18 class will the class we look back on that put Miami back on top. Now it is time to stack chips.

Agree with all of this and I assume you meant Pope. Yeah, with those kinds of hungry studs, we should be able to build a new dynasty, but Mark has a lot of clean up to do and it's not just at the QB position (which of course, is the biggest blunder he's made since he took the job).

Yep Pope, good call.

Until Richt gets a better staff, the team will continue to get smacked in the face when playing a worthy opponent. Also, you mention recruiting, hasn't he kinda underwhelmed/been unable to close strongly the last two NSDs?

We lost some CB's we should have landed. A combo of Rumph still learning to recruit and some favors being given that Miami is unable to match.

We don't need to be stacked to beat Pitt but we need a QB who can hit wide open receivers when they stacked the box, Clemson also lost to them the year before and they are indeed stacked.....oh and they won the national title.

the player excuse has been used since Randy shannon took over
how long will this be our crutch?

If a coach needs a team full of their players to field a good team then it means they aren't a good coach. In Richt's second year at UGA he went 13-1 with Donnan's players. Scott Frost's second year they went undefeated after going 0-12 two years before. You guys gotta stop using that argument fam. It doesn't help the coach at all.

Oh.

1. Perhaps don’t play the QB,
2. Perhaps don’t throw it ~35 times, and
3. Perhaps change the playcalling.

Hall, Blades, and Carter are out there trying to kill people.

I like Steed too. Kids seems to have a nose for the ball.

You have to throw if they sell out to stop the run, sorry thats football 101, you gonna throw 1 v1. You cant complete it if the Qb tosses it out of bounds. And please explain to me who else was there last season. Some of you are simply unrealistic thinking we have Sr Dorsey on our Roster ...we don't. Its make due until one of the Fr steps up. Period

Got it. Richt isn’t responsible for the QBs on the roster. He shouldn’t have brought in a transfer or JUCO. He shouldn’t have fired his son either because that couldn’t be it. It absolutely isn’t the play calling.

And no matter what, let the QB who has accuracy problems throw the ball ~35 times. That makes the most sense.

Dorsey? Is this real life? I didn’t realize we need Dorsey to beat Pitt.

Also, if Rosier wasn’t his guy. If Richt didn’t want to play him and wanted someone else. Why start him in year 3? Any bullchit Rosier excuse ended when he started him in year 3.

I believe Richt will get it done too (maybe not ship, but perennial top 10-12)... But there's no excuse for winning IN SPITE of your qb for 2 years. Esp when you are a qb guy, esp when your little son is on the staff as a qb coach. Can't happen. 1 year...ok? Happens even at schools further along, misevaluations, change of staff, transfers, etc...If Malik Rosier doesn't develop, he is not a 2 year QB, it is really plain and simple...And you are ruining next year, by not finding out the best of your other 3 this season.

This thread is going no where fast

Is Richt on the right track, yes
Does he need to:
1. Hire a real OC
2. Improve the coaching staff and stop hiring stray cats as coaches
3. Move on from Rosier

Do these things and then we can start thinking about the playoffs

‘18 class was great.
‘19 so far is weak.
Strength program is overrated
We have 1 or 2 legit position coaches.
Richt’s offense = lol
QB development = lol

pretty much this

our O line can't push a high school team around in year 3
in year 3 rosier is your starter
we have 2 legit coaches in dugans and brown, the rest don't belong ( maybe simpson, but that Dline has been MEH )
our linebackers have regressed immensely ( coaching once again )

I don't even need to say anything about special teams, calling them terrible would be giving them a compliment

it's a mom and pop team
