It's an NCAA thing. They received improper benefits, making them ineligible to play. Miami would potentially forfeit any game they played. Same thing happened to Tunsil at Ole Miss.

Just now hearing about this news, been busy. But don't think this was Richt's decision at all. In recent interviews he seemed somewhat cranky and that left me with a feeling that he knew about the decision and wasn't too happy about it.
