Nah, I'm fine with him...If I worry about anything it's that it's taking away from him leading the team in other capacities. And obviously the pass down to the 1 before the 2nd td should have been reviewed.

He is stubborn and his scheme really isn’t creative or innovative but there sure are a lot of open guys in the passing game.

I said it last year and same goes for LSU, if Rosier hit the wide open guys, Richt would look like this explosive play caller.

Thats the problem, he is the head coach and doesnt know what is going on on defense, our dline is going to take a nosedive soon, recruiting has been terrible, we will be right back in "can he play DT?" era because of neglect. He has repeatedly said he doesnt know whats going on on defense, doesnt know depth chart, lets Diaz run show, etc. Its a problem, I wont even begin to tell you how bad our special teams have looked.

Can he do it, Im sure he can, but getting a bunch of yes men and calling plays yourself to prove to your old job for whatever prideful reasons that you can still do it is a disservice to your current job, is it the highest and best use of our head guy?

Richt the HC is letting down Richt the OC... and even then he's not even that good of an OC.

Been saying this since Day 1.

It took 6 years at Georgia for them to take Richt off calling plays. I think he only gets this year, maybe next, before he gets pressured out of being the OC here - so 3 or 4 years.

All the "Richt looks rejuvenated at Miami" or "Georgia was holding him back by making him a CEO" was always just some dumb talking head bs. He's the same vanilla OC he was at Georgia. Nothing has or will change with Richt at Miami.

It's not a matter of "if" but "when" someone else is calling plays.

His shortcomings have little to do with a poor QB.

There is virtually zero short passing game which does not help a poor OL or Poor QB.
He doesn't attack the D's scheme or weakness and just runs whatever play he has next up thus...
He often keeps his TE and RB in to block even on 3rd and long with 3 WRs up against 6 or 7 man zone.
His pass routes tend to send 2 or 3 WRs on go routes.

He does not have time to game plan against a team's D so he just runs his O regardless to whats on the other side of the ball. He can beat Duke or GT with athletes but he is never beating Clemson or OSU with this.

He desperately needs an OC.

Couldn't agree more with this

Richt: I miss calling plays
Georgia: Time has passed you by, but we love you so we'll let you hire an OC instead of firing you
Richt: no worries I'm responsible for the gameplan
Georgia: You're fired
Georgia: Nat'l Championship Game

Richt: Happy to be back home so that I can call plays again here in Miami
Miami Fanbase: Here we go again
Richt: We'll be okay, I'll just fine tune the gameplan
Miami Fanbase: We should have hired Butch!

Reality: Richt needs to realize his play calling sucks ***, and hire an OC and a new OL Coach.

If Richt wants to the the Offensive Coordinator - fine.

Hire Butch as Head Coach, and put Richt up in the booth.

The sad part is he is night and day better as a coordinator than Diaz.

We are destined to do less with more. Get used to it.

To be fair to Richt, offensive production was pretty decent in 2016 outside of the UNC and VT games, wasn't it? I also seem to recall using the roster much more - we threw to Walton, threw to Njoku, and got the ball to Richards and Berrios regularly. Does Richt all of a sudden suck that much from 2016 to 2018? Or, is it more the fact that he had a 62% passer back then who finally learned what to do with the ball? Especially the last third of the season, that offense was putting it all together and rolling.

People have been saying this since he got here.

Richt will always put of big numbers against the ACC's inferior talent. Things seem to work better when playing poor teams but the O still struggled more than it should have.

But when he plays real teams with like talent, like LSU, Clemson and Wisconsin he gets exposed. His lack of skills as an OC actual gets exposed with the lesser teams two but with better players close games come out on his side.

If we had the funds and balls we'd hire Briles as OC and drop 50 on every opponent we faced.

We'd also hire Leavitt as DC and stop giving up 3rd down conversions.
