Mark Pope Twitter

He had to know he'd be crucified no?

Too emotional to care.

I can't blame him for lashing out against the vitriol being directed at him and Wiggins, but this will just make it worse.

The best they can do is put down the phones, pick up the weights, and get fanatical with catching the ball.

They would probably be better off seeking a fresh start elsewhere. They have 2 years to get stronger. Trying to overcome the negative momentum and succeeding here will be tough.

I wish the young man all the best in life, football is just a game. But speaking strictly in the context of football, it's blatantly obvious he doesn't have it and should probably be doing just about anything else besides yapping on Twitter. Get back in the IPF and work the jugs machine until your hands bleed or show a little humility and stfu for a day or two.
Side note, I was listening to Joaquin on a podcast the other day and he was saying how we’ve established a soft a$$ culture with the IPF and our practice schedule. We are constantly avoiding practicing in the heat. We are either in the IPF or holding practice early in the morning or late in evening to avoid one of our greatest advantages, the South Florida heat and humidity.

21 years old is not a kid. I was self-sufficient at that age and didn’t depend on anyone for anything

Maybe if we treat these players like the adults they are, they’ll start acting that way
If by we you mean the coaches who get paid to do this........then sure. But when all these two know in this program is talk all you want and perform as bad as you want.......you’ll always start, what the **** do you expect? A lot of 21 year olds (and older for that matter) who aren’t held accountable, won’t be accountable or responsible for that matter.

He's been through 3 different offenses during his time here. It finally clicked for Harley mid-season. Maybe it will happen for Pope and Wiggins, maybe not. But grown adults bashing them on twitter or here is just sad.
I agree, people need to leave the players alone. I’m sure he already feels terrible about his performance and it serves no purpose to bash players. However, it time for Miami to move on from Pope and Wiggins. They are upperclassman that have not improved, and can’t be counted on, it’s time to get younger players a chance. 3 different offenses does not excuse the drops these guys make. They just don’t have it and can’t be trusted to make plays.

I mean "we" as in the whole South Florida community and fanbase. All of us need to stop treating these young men as kids. It's part of the culture problem that's been an issue for a long time now. imo

Fast forward to 2022. Pope is an undrafted free agent trying to make a roster.

GM - “we are letting you go today, Mark”
Pope - “you don’t know how much I’ve struggled and worked!”
GM - “great. Get the **** out”

Either take the criticism with the praise and get better or prepare to find a different career route. It’s that’s simple. All these guys think they are NFL quality coming out of HS. You do **** like this you get cut.

social dilemma. The older I’ve gotten the more I’ve gotten away from social media. My girlfriend has zero social media. I Facebook, no Instagram, no twitter nothing. She is happy and grounded in reality. I’m working towards that haha I have deleted all my apps besides twitter but even that’s getting overran with political bull**** and Covid crap.

twitter used to only be sports and fun but it has turned in the last year. We are looking at moving to the Tampa area and the beach and disconnecting from it all haha
We full go to Naples 😂

Yup, not every player works out.

Right but certain individuals are paid to do specifically that............and while the fan base has no problem running their mouths to anyone it’s very curious how often their target of accountability is completely misplaced.

That’s what’s wrong man. You can’t give objective critique anymore without being met with “leave the kids alone”. 1. These not kids man, let’s stop calling them that. 2. At some point you gotta learn simple rules- praise comes when you do your job and excel at it, criticism comes when you routinely don’t do your job. This wasn’t a case of a bad game. We’d be giving em a pass if it was. This criticism is 1000% earned with the play both of them had CONSISTENTLY all season long. Learn to take that head on and WORK to improve instead of turning it into this amazing underdog story. Nah fam miss me with that. You aren’t a walk on busting your tail to be great. You’re a formerly highly touted prospect that has greatly underwhelmed with your play. What type of reaction do you expect? Smh they ain’t cut from the same cloth no more man.

It's way past objective critique and into personal insults.

Im always easier on kids than coaches because they are competing between the lines making split second decisions. Some are not good enough. It is what it is. But coaches get paid six and seven figures to not know what the f*ck they are doing and ruin kid's lives with egotism and stubborness. I have no patience for that.

Who keeps putting 6 and 8 out there with what they have shown? Exactly. But fans are fanatics for a reason.

I've never understood attacking a college player, even if he sucks huge donkey balls. It's not like he doesn't want to be good, he just isn't good.

Direct your anger where it belongs, directly at the A Hole masquerading as an athletic director who hired the clueless coaches who can't recruit or develop.

Some of you just have no idea where to point your anger. In life you can choose to spend all your time *****ing about symptoms, or perhaps just figure out that the smart thing to do is identify and cure the underlying DISEASE.

Leave the kid alone. He's going to have to go back and rewatch the tape which is more than enough punishment when he realizes his life long dream of making a career out of football isn't going to be a reality. Let's get the same level of tweeting and anger point at the UM administration, where it REALLY belongs.

Someone care to pass this along to Mark Pope.

Signed,

Peruche
