2027 Mark Matthews 5* OL from STA

Ultimately I'd say as long as we land one of Mathews or Olu, I'm not gonna be too disappointed. But all else equal you do pay off say a decent amount more to win the Mathews recruitmsnt than you'd be willing to spend on Olu.

Ultimately we will likely have McCoy and Samson coming off the books. Congdon and Buchanan could have two OG spots locked up next yr (also call me crazy but Buchanan should get snaps at Center too tbh). There really shouldn't be CRAZY expenses on the OLine after them tbh. And like SJ maybe our next highest rated recruit and imo he can only actually contribute if he plays center which he's still not doing... That seems like an expense that can be saved to me.

So signing a 5star OT next yr absolutely makes sense. If it's Mathews and he's making A lot you expect him to start day 1. If Olu, I wonder if it'd be more of a Samson situation where he's not ready asap

Semantics. We can look at any individual kid from this class and say we’d be “fine” without them. This is a recruitment we should win and I think it’d be much worse from an optics standpoint vs on the field if we were to lose him. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I’m done w it, go Canes.

Would love to get him but the athletic testing scores has everyone saying for sure first rounder wayy too soon. He may need a year or two to develop imo

Instead of the forum when he was a teenager, he’s now doing it on a podcast.
 
He wasn't exactly local and we didn't have the best DB coaches in place, proven here at the time, but the confidence being pushed, reminds me of DJ Pickett here. Mark is local, we just made the NC game and our OL coaches are good, still. Their was confidence in Cooper last cycle until Texas took a sledge to us. It certainly feels like A&M and LSU are doing it here. I have been around to long, to be acting like, he will be a Cane, stop questioning it. That has DJ written all over it. Crunch time has started already with MJC now. I believe Auburn has 2 commits. Biidding time has started. How many do we flinch on?

+ I still don’t understand what happened with Pickett, but he’s stuck at a bad LSU program now.
+ Did you see Cooper play in high school? He’s a great athlete that is still learning how to play the position.

Miami should’ve landed these guys, especially Pickett, but the roster isn’t bereft of talent.
