2027 Mark Matthews 5* OL from STA Commits to TAMU

I’m guilty of ripping on his hat game and post hat game interview. But I do trust Cristobal’s recruiting. We don’t know what kind of chess he’s playing. I doubt we see Matthews on the team, but if he snags another blue chipper because he knows we signed him over Matthews, all the better. Or maybe it’s NIL baiting. Get A&M and other schools to break the bank because South Beach money is in play. Just pure speculation on my part.

Recruiting is not for the weak, there is no room to be emotional if your the head coach of successful program. Even if things break a different way for whatever reason, even if you come to the conclusion its not a good fit, cant have an emotional response.

Obviously dont waste crazy amounts of energy but stick to the script and play the game. Never know what will happen down the line in the transfer portal, kids can mature. Keep the pressure on A&M and make them continue to use every resource. Maintain the best relationship you can with the high school coaches and people in the community. GABOS

Yea I think between his antics at the commitment and then continued **** talking in the media we are all just over the kid. I personally think the kid has skated by on his size and talent. I expect him to underperform as a TF compared to his ticket price. Like others have said I think he saw what our practices are like and Mario didn't kiss his *** just right and he decided to go elsewhere. Seems like a dude whose momma probably would have had to come "pick him up."

Who was the last kid to not trend downwards once he started talking **** about the hometown team? Seems most hometown recruits who spurn us and then go out of their way to clown us end up crashing and burning.

Reality is coming like a freight train, he’ll arrive at TAM of no bands , limousine or male cheerleader just some dude with a sign MM .

That then reality will hit , he’ll have to remember to flush the toilet leave a redwood for your mate ain’t good .

I have to disagree with you. Matthews didn’t just get by on size. He has great feet and natural power. He’s played great competition and totally neutralized highly ranked DL.
I’m okay with the fact that we didn’t land him because we’re elite OL talent evaluators but MM is the real deal. I don’t know what TAMU’s depth chart is like but he can play day 1.

Size and TALENT*

What you don’t really see on his tape is toughness/violence and you must have that to play OL at the highest levels against grown *** men.

You can use sheer size and finesse to neutralize 225 Lb teenagers who prefer to use their quicks to make plays. I’d like to see him square up with Boog on the field (not a camp) and see how that goes for him.
