The number that was released on Cantwell was 5M for 3 years.

You turn on the TV on any autumn Saturday and you have their games on TV with massive crowds at their stadiums whereas look at the product the ACC puts out on same days. This is nothing against UM football as the coaches and players have done their part being elite.
But a lot of kids want to be part of those football crazed environments which matches the intensity of their football programs, especially at a school like STA which is used to playing for state championships and against elite teams from throughout the country.

The SEC is dead. Not what it was 5 years ago. Saban leaving Bama and then NIL has made it an even landscape across the entire country. I would argue the Big 10 is the top conference right now over the SEC. With that being said we beat both Ohio State and Ole Miss and d*** near beat Indiana. Should’ve beat them… There’s absolutely no reason we shouldn’t win the ACC every single year and be a top 1-4 seed in the playoffs…

Back on topic though if Matthews is dumb enough to go to Texas A&M over us that’s on him… Between Sewell, Mauigoa and now Cantwell among many others it’s clear he & Mirabal can evaluate, recruit, develop and put these dudes in the league.

Even if this was true, and knowing that Miami is the high bidder, you'd think SOMEBODY could afford to pay the $100K per year cost of attendance at Miami...

I won't comment on their mothers...
 
This is very simple and I can't believe the criticism from some of you. Mario and Mirabel gave it their best shot. Some of you guys make it sound like TAMU is an inferior football team or their OL coaching sucks but it's just the opposite. I've been to College Station and there's not much there BUT Matthews wants to leave Miami. That doesn't make him a bad kid or stupid. Just move on to another prospect that wants to be here. Obviously Matthews doesn't want to be here. Birthday or not he missed the pool party and picked OSU to beat Miami. If those aren't clues he's not comimg than I don't know what are. One 17 year kid is NOT going to make or break a football team or recruiting season. UM will be just fine with or without him. I do NOT consider this a loss because he never committed to us. A disappointment oh yes.

I want the kid with us, I still think that he may end up in the class, but I’m old and reasonable enough to know that him going elsewhere ultimately won’t sink the ship. Is he a big time get, a super priority? Yes, he absolutely is, but he’s not bigger or more big time than was J. Smith and although we all wanted him and he’d be a star with us, our program hasn’t missed a beat having lost out on him. I feel 100% confident that we’re headed back to the top with or without Matthews. I’d love to have him, he and Jackson could be the best pair of tackles at UM since McKinney and Gonzalez, but we’re going to win no matter what. I have faith jn Mario and the culture. I ain’t worried, fam.
