Chances he would come here if we pursued him? What does he make at MSU?

Dantonio is 6-1 in his last 7 games against top 10 teams.

Thoughts?

Would love either, Dantonio will go to South Carolina ( alum) if anywhere. Not sure about Les, o guess it would be just about anywhere he wanted

Dantonio isn't going anywhere, not even SCe. He has spent 4 of the last 30 years in South Carolina. The rest has been in the Midwest at either Cincinnati as a head coach, Ohio state as a coordinator, or MSU. He's a Midwest guy and I personally feel like he enjoys ruining Ohio state's year. He's done it twice. Who else can say that?

Guys who can win their own Power 5 conference are not coming to Miami.

Please stop suggesting guys like Dantonio. He's a great coach, no debate. Same with Gundy and Briles and Patterson.

But those guys aren't leaving their current schools, IMO. All of them know they can win from where they are, and none of them are looking for an "easier" path, IMO.

Also ... Specific to Dantoni ... He was nothing special at Cincinnati. Very mediocre record. Nothing was obvious about his future success when he as at UC.

So, for the guys dismissing candidates like Dan Mullen or Tom Herman or Justin Fuente or Dana Holgorsen, please look at the trajectory of Dantonio's career. Some guys aren't immediate rock stars ... Doesn't mean they can't become great coaches.

And before any genius pulls any 1 coach out of my post to form their opposition, I'm not suggesting those guys are all on the same level, or will all become great.

But I am pointing out that a .500 coach at 1 school can become an elite coach at another school, given increased resources, talent, and experience.

You make excellent points. Jimmy Johnson was like 29-25 at Ok. State. If this board was around when he was hired 98% would have been vehemently against it.

Mark D'Antonio is my top choice, no way he wants to stay in East Lansing forever......

I'm gonna guess you've never been there, huh?

that is correct but was not referring to great school zones for his kids but more so of recruiting there and resources especially being at a basketball school and being "little brother"

One of the better posts that I've read on any Cane board.
Heck, some of the folks I see drooling over Dantonio would be the same ones with the pitchforks and banner raising had Dantonio been
producing the results from 5-10 years ago.
