Mario's absurd call late in 1st half

And Cignetti's goes for it on 4th and 5. Regardless people would have probably criticized whatever decision Mario made but for national championship I wouldn't mind him for his balls on the line. I understand that decision though and how we were struggling at first half but we finally started to get some momentum and I think that would have built upon it. Although if we don't get it probably be a crap storm for Mario

I gave Mario plenty of kudos the past 2 years for his improvement in decisions like this, but it was wrong last night.

You have to factor in who gets the ball after the half. If you are getting the ball after the half, kick it. You can parlay it into two scores. If you're kicking off to start the 2nd half, you have to go for that.

Hindsight is 20/20, so yes we got a stop out of the half, but that's a VERY slippery slope. They had the ball, up 10-0, with a chance to really start to put the game out of reach with a TD.

I thought it was the wrong call for 4th and 2. Of course if he makes it, and we kick a FG to tie at the end and go to OT and win, we're all saying what a wonderful call it was. But you can't play the game like that. You have to go with the correct call at the time, and IMO kicking a 50 yard FG with a kicker who is 3 for his last 7 is not a good decision. He just missed his last 50 yarder against Ole Miss and it was in a dome. I understand he's got a big leg and they have confidence in him, but this isn't Borregales we're talking about here. You haven't scored a point in the half and you're finally down inside their 35, you have over a minute and timeouts. Go score a touchdown. Or, at worst, kick a short FG. 50 yarders for college kickers should always be out of necessity, not something you play for.

Mario's decision to go for 50 yard FG at end of half down 10-0 instead of going for a 4th and 2 was a fatal blunder.. Needed 7 there with IU getting the second half KO. Our FG kicker (an FAU " project") has been awful all playoffs, a complete disaster and, of course, missed. Why not go for a makeable 4/2 with Mali cat( roll right, option to run or throw?). or Fletch off right side? Instead Mario goes out with our WORST offensive option possible- FG attempt with zero confidence kicker from midfield. 10-3 changes NOTHING. 10-7 changes everything. 10-0 gets you beat.
No. Just no. Davis had plenty of leg. He doinked it off the goalpost. Up until that point, we were really struggling to move the ball. We needed points.

10-3 means it would've been 10-10 when Fletcher scored his first TD. That's called a tie ball game.....hardly NOTHING. Go back to bed.

It was a F-I-F-T-Y yarder. Our kicker is mad shakey. You all been watching games or did you think we picked one up in the portal last week? It was a ~ 40% chance of success. Or we just needed two yards to convert. The team responded in the 2nd half, bc they're battle proof, but that was a weak call; in agreement w OP.

Lets say Miami gets a first down. That does not mean they get a TD. I would have liked Mario to go for the first down myself. But 10-3 is better than 10-0.

Nah it’s just I find it amusing how often fans with little to no game management experience try to critique calls. Everyone manages the clock on madden so it’s gotta be a layup. Not that it matters. Yall will critique everything anyway 😂
I actually coach the game, on a field, and have for many years. It wasn't a game management decision. Are you able to read?
