Keep seeing we are more physical. While true if not used wisely does it really help? Offense use dumb. Defens use much smarter. A tale of the difference in mentality of coaches on both sides of the ball.

TVD went on the road his second game as a starter.

The offense had 3 turnovers.

And it still scored 35 points and put up over 400 yards of offense.

I was very hard on Mario in year one. Even when he was hired I kept saying there was a narrative out there with offense.

I gave him a mulligan when he went outside the box with the Dawson hire. Now I’m starting to think this is just the bs he wants and it’s not changing. I’m legit concerned now.

He knows what works and isn't changing.

Dual threat absolutely! In today’s day and age of this game, if you don’t have a QB make you pay with his legs to keep the defense, honest and stressed by that, you’re just not gonna be able to get it done. And while Emery played like a warrior the other day, he’s not a championship level quarterback. His arm isn’t strong enough and the 1 plus side on him was supposed to be his accuracy but he wasn’t very accurate on Saturday. But most of all, he’s not athletic enough to make you pay with his legs.

You don't even absolutely need typical dual threat. When i hear dual threat i think sub 4.5 type guy that's run first. Just any threat at all that the qb can pull the ball and pick up 5-10 like a maye or the duke qb.

I’ve been screaming all of these points from the top of the hill since early last season, but have been negged a ton, and have had to have multiple debates with posters that are seeing what everyone else is seeing, but somehow think that it’s not the head corches fault, and that he’ll get it fixed.

Humility is a sign of good character. When I’ve been wrong on this board, I’ve manned up and eaten crow. But too many on CiS now pretending that they always knew that Mario was a control freak, and that his preferred offensive system was trash since the get go. If a guy like Cribby says he’s concerned, then everyone starts listening, but if someone like me says it for a year and a half, a lot of the board laughs at it or totally disregards it.

It’s maddening to see. I said the same thing about Folden and Manolo early on and the majority of the board did the same thing, used the “we have to give him some time to bring in their own players and system:” Good/great coaches show you glimpses of the greatness that is to come early on, with Mario it’s been the complete opposite.

@mossmadness has already posted stats that show negative offensive value games during Mario’s career, and he’s at the very end of the list when it comes to trotting out horrible offensive teams. But people are still saying we’re a QB away, or “good WR’s” away, or an “explosive RB” away.

We have enough talent right now to easily win 10 games. It took a complete village idiot to totally ***** his own team out of any opportunity of ever achieving that.

This is purely because I think you know a thing or two and have utilized actual data in your analysis a bit.

Mario is going to be here for a while so this is purely for my own entertainment and curiosity. If you had a clean slate in this moment and financial backing, who are some of your favorite coaches in CFB that you’d be targeting? And you think would realistically take the opportunity. I just enjoy tracking some really good lesser known coaches that maybe I don’t even know.

Would like to hear your thoughts because **** at this point I’d promote Guidry and stick him with a high powered OC. Make it a short term deal with performance escalators and then if things are trending right extend him with a fair raise.

Yes and no. Mario demanded the university to invest into the program through various ways to position itself to compete for years to come. We needed that desperately. That doesn’t happen without Mario. In the coming years, we are going to be a problem.

That being said, I also am concerned with Mario’s stubbornness and pray the QB play is the sole reason we changed our offense as the season went on but if I am being honest with myself, I believe Mario wanted this to a degree. Perhaps, not to this extent (I hope) but at some level he wants to pound the rock. We’ll see what it is next year.

Now i am about to really upset the board, everyone better pray it works with Mario here instead of cheering for his failure because if Mario does fails, it’s over for this program. Back to the cheap Shalala days we go. University wants to see results with all the money being pumped into this program. I believe we will see it soon.

But you’re one of the reasonable posters on this board, and always try to be fair. Some people may not like you for being honest, and some are just jealous of you because of the life you’ve had, and the people that you know or are friends with.

I’ve always respected your input, and appreciated the stories and memorabilia that you share with the board. It keeps those great memories alive of a time that now seems like a century ago.

Hopefully someway, somehow, we’ll be able to get out of this nightmare, and preferably sooner rather than later.

The OC doesn’t matter. It’s clear that Mario wants to do what he does with everything else. Micromanage the offense to how he wants it to be

Which is be physical, play conservative and try to squeeze out wins (Big 10 boring)
