Mario on Joe Rose this AM - worth a watch and you can tell Mario is sky high on this year's team.

Some cliff notes:
- Mario is very excited for the 2027 recruiting class we are working on
- JJ Dunnigan is smart, long as heck and similar vibes to Toney last year
- Mensah is the real deal
- Lightfoot has gained 12 pounds, might gain another 12 (awesome spring)
- Blount looks like hulk hogan - 270 pounds and jacked (awesome spring)
- Damon Wilson is a creature
- Toney has gotten better

So basically our DL will be dominant again and Toney should win the Heisman.

outside of LB depth (need someone to step up outside of Smith/Toure) and inexperience on the OL, we really have no holes on this team

OL - SHOULD be fine. Cantwell may have some growing pains, but all indications he is a stud

Need Wiley, Bonner or one of the LBs to get into that rotation though and be effective. I know im missing some names, but you get the drift.

Crazy that with Blount (assuming he starts at DE) Wilson, and Lightfoot that one of them will have to come off the bench.

I don't buy that Lightfoot gained 12 lbs in 3 months and "might" gain another 12. And if he really gained that much weight that quickly, it probably wouldn't be good.

So, since the first 12 supposedly already happened , you figure MC fibbing a bit?

Lightfoot was a force in the snaps that he got last year. If he plays 10 pounds bigger or more next season, he will be a problem. I just hope he is able to maintain his agility as he gains some weight.

This is completely stolen from @DMoney from his season autopsy, and also we still have to go out and do this in 2026, but what he said at the end of 2025 was we lost the 1.1 pick in the NFL draft, and got better. That shows the health of the program. And he's absolutely correct.

The next step in that health? Lose the most first round picks in 20 years, and be even better the next year.

I get if you think losing 3, 4, 0, 8, 61, etc will be tough to replace, and we might take a step back.

This team will be even better. Will we make the natty? Who knows, football games are one game samples, anything can happen. But I genuinely believe this team, overall from top to bottom, will be even better.

You lose 1.1....you improve.
You lose 3 first rounders, you improve.

That is program sustainability and health. That's a real program built to last.

Cantwell WILL have growing pains out there.

But it’s an investment in the late season run and the future.

You can always help him by chipping and creating traffic for the DL to attack his outside shoulder. That’s where he’s struggling with some of the higher end guys on the roster.
