Mario now blaming the media

I don’t have any sympathy for Mario this season but the media is trash and that’s always been the case
Yep. Let’s blame the media. That’s the way things go these days. Kill the messenger.

***** them for raising reasonable issues. ***** them for trying to get info for us all.

And ***** them for putting out legitimate negative information.

Actually, our establishment media is TOO soft in South Florida. They play patty cake at press conferences. Embarrassing.

Our posters are tougher. The boards are better. Isn’t that media?
@DMoney is very critical of what he’s seeing. God bless him.

Does Mario think he should stop doing that?

He needs a recruiting class to beat MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE and Duke at home? Come on. He's a joke.
What you are telling me is a guy who has won two Pac12 titles is a joke. So I suppose he just lucked right into those titles.

Try and be objective for a moment. When is the last time Miami won a major bowl? Try 2003. Since 2003 Miami has hired two legit coaches. One was Richt who had some success but could not run his simplified offense with the talent we had. When he arrived he asked "where is the speed?". Second is Cristobal. The rest were bozos and were never qualified. So in close to 20 years we had a legit coach all of 3 and a half seasons. The same questions that Richt had about the roster, Mario could have openly asked. He kept it under wraps. One of his assistants did not. Steele questioned the talent of the entire secondary when he got here. We have very good reason to see why half a season in. We have subpar LB's, subpar RB's without the acquisition of Parrish (who was 3rd on the depth chart last year at Miss), subpar WR's outside of Restrepo that got hurt and the newly acquired Young), a below average OL that is hit with injuries and a guy who seems to not want to play, a TE room that is decimated. What do we have? We have a stud QB who finally caught on to the new system but is now out because of aforementioned OL, an excellent DL, an AA punter, an above average CB in Stevenson. Outside of that where is this talent that is better then the player across from them week in and week out? It is not there. Does that excuse us from getting beat by MTSU or Duke? No it does not. Does Cristobal deserve the time to right the sinking ship of talent he inherited before he got here? Yes he does. For years all I have heard on this board is we just need a qualified coach. "We already have the talent and we will get more in recruiting when that happens. We just need a legit coach and we are right back in it." Richt proved that was not true. And when Richt left the legit talent started declining with him. All I am saying is give Mario two full seasons before we start the negativity. For one thing he is not going anywhere no matter how bad you want that to happen. The negativity will snowball before he even gets a chance. Give him a chance to build something and be supportive of it. Give him a chance to get rid of the stench of the last 20 years. I just love it when fans try to be the first one to jump ship and call for the demise of the coach. You do not win a prize for that. In fact more coaches fail then succeed. So you are only playing the averages. That doesn't make you Nostradamus. Cristobal may very well fail. But he is the best shot we have had in succeeding in along time. Why not support him no matter what the outcome? He is a better coach then our record and his track record has shown that.

One of those pac 12 titles was indeed “lucked right into”. His team didn’t even make the pac 12 championship but the team that did had a Covid outbreak and Oregon replaced them. Will never happen again in the history of the sport. So yes I would say that’s as lucky as someone can get to win a conference championship

I don’t get this site;

One minute, ya’ll hate the Media & the negativity it surrounds this program, but if it validates ur current feelings, it’s all good. I wish some of ya’ll would make the fck up ur minds.

I’m pretty sure the recruiting services ain’t making a big deal of UF being 4-3 right now or FSU on a 3 game losing streak. Why don’t we hear about the #9 UF Gators in fear of losing said recruits like Miami?

its all BS talking points. who cares if the media questions the recruiting. we aren't in a college town. miami has never been nor will it be treated that way. every sports team down here gets crushed in the media. if you want the media to be a propaganda piece for your college football team, move to Gainesville or Tuscaloosa

he earned the first one. the second one he earned by beating USC but lucked into by even being in that spot.

Mario did well at Oregon. he improved the talent base as well. he also did some things there that we see here and will prolly see till hes gone. hes going to be in tight games when you shouldn't be bc of his style. hes gonna lose to some random games you shouldn't even w a massive talent advantage as he had at Oregon. his offenses will never be prolific. he had a top 10 QB and still didnt put up prolific numbers you'd expect. he will however raise your floor as a program. you wont be a 7 win team. you'll be a 9-10 win team on average. you may never get past that save for a once every five year mark. I think that part ends up getting him fired, but should leave the place in better hands for the next guy.

my opinion, I want the guy for the instant turnaround. college football isnt like before. w the portal being FA, you can flip your success overnight w the right coaches and right schemes. you dont need a program builder to have success anymore. guys aren't gonna stay in your program for 3-4 years and are gonna leave after a year or 2 tops to other schools as well. continuity imo will never be a thing. well see what next year looks like for Mario. in 24, hes gotta have it going otherwise it will be a 4-6 win season again.

Barry Jackass found his big boy voice after back to back regimes where he played it like a deaf mute.

If I was a conspiracy theorist, I’d say he’s out here doing the bidding of Big Manny and a few heavy hitter donors who didn’t want Mario here.

He’s getting pretty close to the heart of the matter here.

My only disappointment here is that Mario is apparently not savvy enough to play the policial games being played off the field. He’s got to trust Radakovich to get his back. That’s his job to keep Mario clean.

you'd think Mario would be able to sweet talk the reporters and fans down here. I guess the issue is getting *** raped by ****** teams at home doesn't help and wears out the welcome mat

Look man, he’s a personable guy to be sure. That’s how he’s been such a great recruiter.

But he’s struggling at best to get his arms around the culture problem(s) within the school and program. Everyone can see it. Instead of adjusting and looking inward, the guy is lashing out at everyone who questions him.

This will have a bad ending.

As is often the case in life, more than one thing can be true at once:

1. The team should be better than it is. Nobody should be anything short of disappointed and ****ed as to what has transpired. it's unacceptable, embarrassing, and should be giving even the staunchest supporters of Mario at least some pause.

AND

2. He's been the coach for 10 months, and 7 games. Nobody who is a fan of the program and wants to see it succeed should be toxic towards any part of it at this point. If he's losing to MTSU and Duke in Year 3, yep, fly the planes, call the guy racist names, go nuts. Do what you're doing now, essentially. But actually doing it now is ******* LUNACY.

Preach.

What a hilariously-sad, always-bytching, undeserving-of-good things, crybaby fan base this is.

This program has been a poorly-run abortion FOREVER.

Even when football won BIG back in the day, the administration and athletic department were a joke. Had it not been for Sam Jankovich bringing in Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson (as well as Dave Wannstedt and Sonny Lubick turning down the job in 1995, paving the way for third-choice Butch Davis), Miami would've been a one-hit wonder and done the minute Howard Schnellenberger left for the USFL.

From the beginning of time through early December last year, this poor-***, hat-in-hand program was making rinky-dink moves and only THEN decided to get in the game, to write fat checks (thanks to some rich boosters), to hire a quality coach, to put in huge money for assistants and even got rid of a hated clown AD for a powerhouse veteran from a national championship-caliber program.

The program—a team full of a bunch of yahoos coached up by the beta Miami ran off last fall—starts out 3-4 and too many have **** dribbling down their leg.

Sack up. This program has averaged 7-5 annually for the past 16 seasons. This was never and overnight fix.

Great, it hasn't lived up to silly fan declarations that Miami was in "Coastal or Bust" mode year one—despite going 1-of-17 in the division and 0-of-18 in ACC titles.

This team shouldn't have lost to MTSU. No excuse for that—but based on the basura brand of Miami football the past two decades, there's zero reason to cry the blues that Miami lost at aTm or fell to two ACC basketball schools that have beaten them a bunch of times since joining the ACC.

Grow a pair and settle in as it'll be a minute, ladies.

No it won't, because winning cures all and he knows that.

People were flying banners three games into Butch's third year, while the team was on probation.

The same fans running Davis off were the first sucking him off when he left for the NFL four years later.

Mario knows how this program, this city and the coaching game are wired more than anyone on this board.

If he's playing nice with the media, he'll get trashed—if he's blowing up at them, he'll get trashed.

Dude knows he needs to win football games. He couldn't give less of a f**k of fans on this board talking about a Joe Rose interview, or how he reacted to the media about a recruiting-related question.

Blah, blah, blah—our idiot fans can go make some more "witty" cafecito jokes while due gets to work trying to solve 20 years of incompetence and irrelevancy in Coral Gables.

Last I checked he was 35-12 in four years at Oregon, won two Pac-12 titles, won a Rose Bowl, had to 10-plus win seasons and recruited like a beast—but yeah, our jaded, crybaby fan base knows better and this guy is Manny, Part Deux.

Huh? You forget Gabby and 247 messing up Miami’s recruiting early? You forget how bags were upped from schools when the Miami recruiting sites leaked prospect info? This site was going in on Gabby because of exactly what he’s talking about.

He’s not wrong here.
