I respect the **** out of Mario for that answer. I've long been a fan of FBS teams having an FCS team on the schedule. It brings revenue to those schools and it's the only way most of those players will ever be on anything but ESPN+.

It makes me happy to see them treated with just as much respect as a G5 team.

I didn't think it was a bad question. It was actually just a standard layup question any junior reporter would ask. "You're playing and FCS opponent, do you plan to get a lot of the younger guys playing time (paraphrasing)?

I think the answer was mostly because of the bad question. But I think a part of the answer is because Mario has now been around UM long enough to have received a lot of poor questions from local media and he’s done with them.

Two things can be true for me:

1. SMD deserves to be treated like a human being and not a punching bag. People are disgusting with the way they discuss her.

2. She has not improved one iota in her job over the last 10 years. She earns responses like she got today.

I have to agree. I don’t like piling on anybody, especially somebody that seems not totally tuned in, not that knowledgeable, and somewhat defenseless. At the same time I agree with your second point there’s just no polite way with respect to the other team to answer that question.

Honestly, he was firm, but not rude. But he definitely got his message across. Also, it actually is disrespectful to the other team although maybe that’s not how she meant it.

Hey, SMD is one of a kind, but she's Miami's Susan. Who better to keep us abreast of player weights, changes in body fat and who's on the bike. She is also someone's wife and mother & means the program no harm. Hopefully Mario takes a moment to tell her he meant no harm as well.

The extra stuff about her is all unnecessary. I am fine with objective criticism. She is in the eye of public perception, she choose this career. Just like when a WR drops a pass, you can call him out for dropping a pass, its what he signed up to do. Just like any job you can be objectively criticized without resulting to petty insults.

With that said I still do not understand why she does not simply write a few questions down 15 min before the presser starts, or **** even the night before. The overall intent of the question was not bad, i.e. we can all infer she was trying to ask about some younger guys getting burn and who he might be excited to see. But because she bumbled through the question it just came off as incoherent and rude but that clearly wasnt her intent.

Have you ever actually taken the time to look at a transcript of a press conference? Below are excerpts from the COVID year when she was asking Diaz and Cam Harris questions:

SMD: "Coach, Big 10 is starting football again with daily COVID testing.... Your reaction?"

Coach: "overall good to get back on the field"

Then the follow-up "well do you think it will be better for college football to have more teams will be playing more major teams?"

Manny: "It cant be worse"

SMD "Ok thanks"

Cam interview:

SMD "Do you appreciate playing on national tv, does it get your adrenaline pumping knowing lots of eyes are on you?"

Cam's response was I appreciate it but don't really look into it that much, just another game focus on louisville and try not to look into that national tv stuff.

SMD "your not ok so you're not looking ahead I wanted to ask you about last year, I looked at all the stats you did have a very nice game, everyone did right on the offense, last year uh your memories from that game that maybe somethings that can help you there are some guys that are the same so uh last year."

Cam "Last year was last year, wanna talk about this year"

SMD "Thank you"

Like seriously, put a little effort in, these are barely sentences let alone questions...pre write a few questions, then read them out loud by yourself or to a friend, your cat whatever, make sure it makes sense then ask them when cameras are rolling.
