Mario Cristobal...you're now (REALLY) on the clock...

CTG, the funny and ironic thing is -- Im PART of that group, a huge advocate and believer in Mario Cristobal. I'll never hesitate to admit that

But it's OK to be critical, or have expectations of those you support and believe in

And I'm honest, my interest if UM football solely
I agree, and I know that you are. But like anything else nowadays, people take constructive criticism as insults, and get offended real easily.

I, for one, am thankful for fans/posters like you that do not sugar coat things just to be part of the “crowd”, or to be PC.

and yeah, I was one who was VERY excited about last season and had some delusions of grandeur. OK, I was terribly misguided, fine, wont be the last time, and it wasn't the first time that has happened

With that said, I still think Mario will get this thing done

However, that doesn't mean we just blithely wave pom-poms with our orange-and-green glasses on, either

In fairness, w/ all context provided, I don’t think comparing Norvell’s situation w/ Mario is a fair assessment. I’ve been a champion in defending Mario, but let’s be honest, Mario took over a program that’s been under performing from a coach who had no business being here, but Miami was still 21-15 before Mario took over, w/ a mostly in tact roster that barely went 7-5, so the notion was we should win about 8 games in yr 1.

Norvell took over a completely & full dumpster fire that went 18-20 under his predecessors. To make matters worst, he took over during a wonky Covid yr w/ a new roster, including a new QB who couldn’t throw for chit. In Yr 2, I got blasted on here when I said don’t let FSU’s 5-7 record fool u, they actually looked competent in many of the games they lost.

The problem many had w/ Mario’s 1st yr, well I’ll speak for myself; I knew yr 1 would be a struggle. ****, I created a whole thread asking for patience w/ Mario. Now, w/ that said, did I think we would be a 5-7 struggling team? No; but, 5-7 doesn’t bother me. Losing in the fashion we did bothered me.

So let’s compare FSU’s 5-7 in yr 2 under Norvell vs. Miami’s 5-7 under Mario:

FSU:
1. 38-41 L in OT #9 ND
2. 17-20 L to Jacksonville St
3. 14-35 L to WF
4. 23-31 L to UL
5. 20-30 L to Clemson
6. 14-28 L to #19 NCSt
7. 21-24 L to UF

Combined loss differential of 62 pts or about 9 pts/game

Miami:
1. 9-17 L to #24 A&M
2. 31-45 to MTSU
3. 24-27 to UNC
4. 21-45 to Duke
5. 3-45 to FSU
6. 10-40 to #9 Clemson
7. 16-42 to Pitt

Combined loss differential of 147 pts or about 21 pts/game

That is absolutely unacceptable. Under Diaz w/ practically the same squad we lost 5 games on avg. of about 12 pts/game. In 2019, our 7 losses avg. about 7 pts/loss. THAT’S why the expectations was for a proven coach to take a team that’s been under achieving, losing close games to inferior openers to close that gap. Instead, the exact opposite happen; not only did the record become worst, but the product on the field became historically worst.

Now, as I’ve said many times, I’m a patience man. I’ll give Mario a mulligan for yr 1, I’ll blame Gattis & them all for it, but there is zero excuses for us not to see a better product than the chit that was forced down loyal fans throats
You also have to apply context in a team sport. One talking point isn't even similar to another. Coaching was coaching and ALOT of things we saw last year weren't beneficial to us long term. But the product that you put out on the field is relevant as well. When a team deals with the injuries we had last year and the depth we lacked as well it's pretty **** tough to expect to pull many positives from that. But personally I gotta move on from last season and look forward. Y'all do what you gotta though.

When has a head coach at Miami in the modern era not been on the clock and at what date will his time have run out?

With respect, these provocating declarations don't move me. Head coaches are not afforded a honeymoon phase at Miami. It has always been championship or bust--rebuilding years be damned--and it always will be. The results of an inarguable successful men's basketball season does nothing to change my opinion on what production I believe CMC needs to have in the 2023-2024 football season.

When somebody mentioned full rebuild before Mario even walked in the door, everyone believed we had a roster that was at least competitive. How many still believe that in hindsight?
I believed we needed that full rebuild before Mario arrived, still do, and I am glad he--and we--got most of what was needed. I have higher (read: not highest) expectations for this coming season.

If you go position group by position group, it gets scary when you look at our roster composition last year. Just start with linebacker group and go from there. Then, when you throw in the injuries, it hurts your eyes to look at our active midyear roster from last year.

Really? We're comparing modern football to the late 1960s, early 1970s? Where teams barely threw the football and wide receivers at times lined up in two-point-stances?

1. Comparing NFL football to College Football is stupid.

2. Comparing 1970s NFL football to modern-era college football is even more moronic.

3. Saying that a HoF HC turned around a team in one year and that this should be the standard for Mario whilst showing that it is possible is downright delusional. I wonder how you would've felt seeing Belichick trying to turn the Patriots around in 2000 or Bill Parcels with the Giants, or Bill Walsh with the 49ers or Belichick with the Browns before they moved to Baltimore or, to make a reference to a team fitting Don Shulas time frame, the Dallas Cowboys under Tom Landry, who had his first winning season in his 7th year in Dallas.

One-year rebuilds have stopped existing, if they ever were a thing in the first place, so please stop referencing them.

Or, to make it even shorter and easier:
