The No. 6 Miami Hurricanes football team traveled to Winston-Salem to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. While the Hurricanes sustained several injuries during the game, head coach Mario Cristobal provided updates on three players.

He spoke on 560 WQAM radio this morning to recap the win over the Demon Deacons and to look ahead to the Hurricanes’ first Saturday game against Central Michigan with Joe Rose.

Cristobal announced that running back CharMar Brown and wide receiver Josh Moore are out for the remainder of the season. He touched on linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin, stating that he will be sidelined for a few weeks.

"We got beat up pretty good. We've had some injuries, some contact-type stuff that has put a couple more guys out that we didn't even expect. So, but Marty Brown is definitely one of them. He's gonna be out. He's gonna be out for the rest of the season, and then some other guys that are gonna be out. Josh Moore, unfortunately sustained an upper... will be out for the rest of the season. Eezekiel Marcelin suffered a lower body injury. He'll be out for a few weeks, and it's a shame because he was playing high-level football, and we're now sharing reps with the ones and was gonna play even a more significant role. Really, really good player. The rest, I'll know more in the next couple of days. Some guys got banged up and are in and out, but certainly not what we wanted, but you know what? The ball is gonna put the tea on Saturday, and we got to get ready to roll."

 

Anyone remember Moore getting hurt? Also, I normally don’t subscribe to scapegoating the sports medicine staff thing but, outside of the freak Marty injury, something reeks

Brown wasn’t a freak injury. It is the standard turf knee injury when the shoe locks into the turf. It happens some with grass but not as often.

Moten was hit by Omar.

Fletcher landed with both arms overhead.

2017 lost Mark Walton, our starting RB, at the beginning of the season. We had 3 star Malik Rosier at QB. It looked like season was over before it started. Yet we still ended up having our best season in more than a decade.

These injuries suck but we have the depth to get past this.

Same people everyone was congratulating for such healthy spring and preseason camps.

Injuries are mostly random. A few guys like Tua are made of glass and are exceptions.

Wingo and Parris are talented kids who have an opportunity now.

Mallory to me is special. He should pick up the slack. Hopefully Lyle wakes up and finds a way to contribute.

Need Dre Jacobs to step in the vertical passing game. #2 WR for an SEC program last year and hasn't been utilized a ton so far this year.

 

There is a reason that typically the most healthy, and talented teams win the Super Bowl and national title every year. It’s great to say “next man up”. But there is a reason those guys lost were starters and the backups were backups. There is a drop off. Good thing is we are deep this year. But we haven’t even played the most physical teams in our schedule yet. More injuries are coming. And we can’t afford anymore

 

Mods please tack this thread so we can put an end to the false narrative that Mario refuses to announce if a player is out for the season. I have read that atleast 50 times since Marty got hurt. Of course there are no datapoints to prove this narrative, it was just CIS being CIS.

 

Really sucks for these guys and the team. Especially Moore and Marcelin who both were starting to break out

At RB, it’s great that we’ve built depth. Do or die time for Lyle. And good thing we have Mallory, excited to see him in an expanded role. He might be starting this Saturday

WR - same thing, we have built depth for this reason. Time for Jacobs and Wingo to get more PT. Saturday is the perfect game for them to get good reps and confidence

LB - Wiley and Pruitt look ready for more snaps, time to give it to them

The bigger problem on this team is the OL (specially the Guards). If Mario and Mirabel don’t get that right soon, it doesn’t matter as much what happens at other positions
