Mario Cristobal Provides Carson Beck Injury Update

“when he’s surrounded with the right pieces“
Contrary to popular belief I'm not sure he's ever been surrounded by the right pieces besides Brock Bowers. I put a asterisk by ladd mcconkey because he missed the first 4 games of that season and 6 games total that year. Ladd only had 478 yds receiving and 2 touchdowns that year.

Didn't Georgia virtually lead the NCAA in "balls dropped by WRs" in 2024? How many times was he sacked? OL was ... not great.
They did, and it wasn’t close.

Edit: I had done the math in another thread a while back, but he would have been well over 4000 yards if not for the dropped passes.

Great addition in Dawson’s system. Only worry is whether it’ll take 2-3 games for him to fit in and be confident with arm post-surgery.

Did you notice the OP included various QB stats for Beck in 2024? Did you notice the OP failed to include exactly one of those stats for Beck in 2024 (but included it for 2023)? Did you notice that was the only stat I included in my post? Do you think I did that to revive a tired debate about Beck's value as a QB, or to provide a more complete picture of the stats provided by the OP?

7.78 yard per attempt in 2024, in case anyone else was wondering.
But I think he had 8.9 and 9.5 yards per att in 2023 and 2023, respectively. Everything points to last season being an anomaly, either due to injuries and/or lack of play makers. Hopefully that's proven to be the case.

You get 0.0 when your receiver drops the football.

All jokes aside, this is obviously probably the 9 most important storylines for Miami from now until Week 1 all rolled into one ligament.

If this kid is right, Miami will be very good. If he's not, well.....

Really simple as that.

If Beck is healthy, has his head on right, and puts in the work, Miami has a legit chance at back-to-back 10 win seasons for the first time since 2002/2003. And if not, this place will be pure misery until we hit Off-Season Fantasy Story Time Mode.

But, I don't appreciate the incompleteness from the OP. When I read the OP, I said to myself, "hold up, how many yard per attempt did Beck have last year," found the stat, and posted it (in case anyone else read the OP and had the same thought).

I can stomach the "top quarterback," "racking up" yards, with "just" 6 interceptions, boasting "an impressive" YPA in 2023 write-up. I can even stomach the dry 2024 stat line. But, if you are going to post 4 2023 stats, post the same 4 ******* 2024 stats.

I'm honestly not trying to have a hypothetical debate on whether 2025 Beck is 2022 Beck or 2023 Beck or 2024 Beck. He's not participated in a UM practice yet, and each season comes with its own trials and tribulations, and the calculus of it all is most definitely multi-variable.

The stat I provided was missing from the OP, who included Beck's 2023 passing yards, TDs, INTs, and YPA. Curiously, one sentence later, he only included Beck's 2024 passing yards, TDs, and INTS (i.e., everything but his 2024 YPA). I thought that was strange and posted it for the benefit of others who may have noted the omission and been similarly curious.

IF 2025 Beck is 2024 Beck, minus the WR drops, that is still fantastic QB1 play.

Several of his INTs were on WR, not him.

That’s a lot to ask from Beck. I don’t think he’s gonna have his head on right.
