I waited to make this post because I didn’t want to speak from the emotions of being ****ed TF OFF!!! My takeaway is this, Mario needs to do some soul searching, speak with his mentors, or something! But he can start with learning these few words:
1) Evolve - The best coaches know when to evolve from grinder to strategic. Grinding harder is not always the fix!
2) Adapt - Tempo and space football requires flexibility not control. Acknowledge modern era football.
3) Delegate - Empower your coordinators. If you hire them to run an offense, let them run it. Let them execute their vision without micromanaging and having to control everything.
4) Trust - Let creative people do what you hired them to do.
5) Innovate - Our Identity has always been about being ahead of the curve, not chasing it.
Mario’s work ethic is what builds his teams up, but it’s also is what tightens them up later in the season. The same grind that creates discipline early in season ends up taking his team's freedom to just play free and not tight and rigid.
He’s built the roster and the foundation of the program. Whether he succeeds or not depends the words above!
