Mario Cristobal - He adjusted

As most fans know here I'm not a big Mario fas as far as how he coaches on day game. He has certainly made some changes in his thinking and I hope this continues. Mario has been a head coach for 12 years and if this is the new Mario then I like it. Then again, the way he coaches to lose has cost us a chance to play in the ACC Championship game and possibly a playoff berth last year. For that matter in the SMU and Lousiville games his coaching idealogy cost us both of those games too. In order for this team to take the next step Mario is going to have to change how he coaches on the sideliine and this is a good start. Either way for you Mario slurpers that can't face the truth that Mario is diirectly responsible, for calling TO's, penalties, lack of discipline, hiring coaches, and giving the public an exciting product to watch. It's very sad to know he's been coaching for 12 years and it looks like he's finally realizing his coaching style is caveman mentality and it doesn't work. I truly believe we deserve to be in the playoffs but have little faith in the committee. If we don't then I look forward to next season with a crushing bowl victory. In the end Mario has no one to blame except himself. Yes, I agree with many here that the officiating cost us the SMU game. GO CANES and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone even though we disagree at times.

There’s no doubt we’ve been slinging it. But it came late. Just like Mario’s coordinator hires and portal qb acquisitions lol.

i'm hoping mario sees the value of running an air-raidish style of offense with power running as the secondary (mostly) go-to. If so, then I like where we are going to go. Plus, i think talent evaluation for both recruiting and portal has improved and the hiring of our DC was his best ever coordinator selection. Plenty of things to feel good about - IF THEY CONTINUE.

Adjustments were made and the team stayed mentally focused on winning. Mario and the coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for that. We've all seen the opposite in previous years, where the loss to SMU would start an avalanche, but not this year. And that's important for changing the perception of the program.

Unfortunately, it was likely too late a shift to reach our goals for this season.

Mario is who he is. He gets way too conservative way too early. VT was just a week ago. And that game was too close late.

Next up- can we get our first 11 win season since 2003? 11-2, 12-2, 13-2… those all sound pretty good. Even if Bain, Cici, and Beck sit out, we are still a very good team.

I’m 100% certain Dawson was handcuffed and that interaction changed the trajectory.

We are a seeing a ton of variation in the run game and play calling.

Something definitely changed and for the better.
i dont think it was just that blow up.

i believe that the fandom pressing the reporters who then pressed Mario and Dawson (both of which got snippy and were defensive) and the fans booing after the first drive v Stanford also were factors.

That was awful watching those games yesterday. I definitely aged 10 years rooting for the ****tiest teams ever to somehow get at least 1 upset. They all ******* lost.

Never again!!
See you next weekend in the game threads

Who can forget resorting to the Mario ball that destroyed Becks confidence and had him pressing and overthinking, which led to the Interceptions. He was forced the leave Dawson tf alone and let him cook because Mario ball caused us two losses and he was losing the team!!! He even talks differently in post games speeches because he knows he effed up the season
Dumbass

Over the last 4 games, he adjusted, and he made changes! Point blank period! However, the playoffs selection turn out. I feel this is a turning point for the program! We’ve arrived! IMO!
I want to see what we run against a real opponent in playoffs before coming to that conclusion. We played a bunch of scrubs this past it. I just hate it took another loss to get to this point. Too little, too late, I fear.

The biggest adjustment I hope he sticks with his keeping tempo and maximizing matchups… put stress on defenses by making one on one situations and force that man to make the play.

Enough phone booth we’re gonna line up like it’s the 50s and bully ball you for 4 quarters. If he does realize get it upset minded teams want to keep the game close for 3 and a half quarters and have a shot at the end within one score to maybe kick the gaming winning FG… Mario plays right into their hand

of course I love scoring a lot, but you can have good balance and still smash the ball in games you get up and vs real football teams to save your D, what you can't keep doing is doing it over and over vs talented but less talented teams than you when it's not working.
ACC teams will throw everything at us knowing it's their only chance, 3 qbs, trick plays galore, going for 4th downs a lot, we need to just blow those teams out.
Smash mouth vs ND and UF in the rain was correct call.

In today’s college football optics matter… you need to keep the gas on till the end.

Not beating ND by double digits still optically ****ed us in it allowed it to be seen as a “quality loss” you aren’t guaranteed the same roster next year play the dudes you have and dominate from start to finish. Same with FSU we got conservative and it became close for absolutely no reason at the end
