I met JJ with my former wife in the Keys in 1998....Chuck was a GA under JJ in 86. He bought me and wife lunch, and we talked for an hour. He told me Butch never recieved the credit he deserved in regards to being JJs Top recruiter from 84-88 at UM. He said without question, the Best he's ever been around. Said Butch had an uncanny ability to evaluate.

didnt lanning bring in a new group of WRs and QB (Nix who was left for dead in AU and resurrected his career at Oregon) when he got there? lost his OC to a HC Gig and then hired a new guy who still has them in good position?

I think ultimately it will end up being best for both parties situation (Mario gets his dream gig and miami gets a more proven HC who can elevate the talent here) and Oregon gets a guy who may or may not take them over the top but provides the same or similar recruiting results.

It's funny how Howard, and JJ ran for more $$$$ but they get a pass....Butch leaves for more $$$ and is vilified.

These pups don't realize Butch also left UM on Thursdays and headed out doing evaluations and recruiting for Jimmy Johnson.

Jimmy had final say - but Butch was the ones setting the table.

Butch was JJs closer....both on Defense & Offense from 84-88....People don't realize that Butch also had a past of coaching TEs as well as other Offensive positions. They also don't realize Butch ran a 10.3 100yd dash in HS....and was an All State Hoopster as well.
