Marcus Lemonis firing some shots

Completely disagree. The 826 already has exits on both Bird and Miller, and new bypass exits could be built directly into the park, similar to what the Turnpike did with Hard Rock.
Not a bad point, also similar to new turnpike exits in Hialeah for the Distrubution Warehouse Center Complex.

What's another $500MM in exits added to the cost...

It would literally be a traffic disaster unless you widen or build more lanes/roads. As much as people talk shlt about the stadium we have now, it’s actually a great place to play, and is more centrally located for the three counties, Tropical Park is a lot more difficult now that people are used to going somewhere central.

Add to that, that at a minimum it’s going to be half a billion to get something halfway decent, for six games a year, and then it’s going have to be used for other things and even then it won’t earn its keep.

Not that I am arguing in favor of Tropical Park (I have in the past) as I believe there are two superior locations available, but consider the following.

When it comes to "traffic disaster", compare 6 or 7 games per year (with possibly one being a Thursday night game, the rest being Saturday games), which would be serviced by traffic from Bird and Miller Roads with 17 home games played by Inter Miami (plus a few pre-season games, friendlies, and possible other special events), when about 5 or 6 of those home games are mid-week games, with all traffic being serviced by LeJeune and Douglas Roads right in front of the airport.

That is not to say "hey, let's go to Tropical", it's just a reflection that if Miami is going to be figuring out a way to move 25,000 people into and out of Melreese for Inter Miami matches right next to one of the busiest airports in the southeast US...then I would imagine the county could figure out a way to accommodate 6 or 7 weekend games at Tropical.

But you raise very valid points on the pay-fors, and whether there would be a need to put a bunch of events at Tropical to make it worth its while.

Absolutely... people who love Joe Robbie and the fish or those who live in Broward or N. Dade will spin everything negative.
Fact of the matter is that Tropical Park has more surrounding thoroughfares than Hard Rock. Accessible from 826 by Bird and Miller, as well as the turnpike exit west on Bird. It would take a major infrastructure upgrade of the 826, but its 5-lanes wide at that point where it merges with the Turnpike extension. Would absolutely be a billion dollar project but it could be done.

Put me in the camp that is against a stadium deal. If they build a UM specific stadium it will likely be in the 45K capacity range. That would be a tragedy for UM football.

Hard Rock is a suitable place to play IF the team is winning.
Why do we need a stadium?

Fans are only showing up to any stadium we play in if we win.

To ensure I’m not misreading the situation, can someone confirm 100% that Lemonis is either:

A. Bashing Manny
B. Sticking up for Manny

I’m not holding my breath… but the Columbus Mafia would be working on their home turf in their sacred Westchester homeland. One thing they don’t have a shortage of is money and political pull.

826 would absolutely have to be reimagined to accommodate, but it could be done. Billion dollar project.

MDC could go forth with another project that would put I-395's The Fountain to shame.

What could go wrong?

😭

In all seriousness though, SoFL has truly reched a point where subsurface access points need to be part (or peimary) solution sets.

Hello NYC South!

There you go. Let’s just have Elon build a tunnel and forget this entire convo.

I am partial to the split option. For the low to moderate attendance games like a regular season tilt with Duke, play in the new stadium. For the high attendance games like the marquee non conference opponents or FSU, then play at Hard Rock. 5 or 6 home games in the new stadium, 2 or 3 games at Hard Rock.

Dude I agree with most of what you say but to me Joe Robbie Stadium sucks the big one for a number of reasons. Lets agree to disagree.

Do you have his number? Can't someone in a Tesla just directly tweet to him?

We are on to something here.
He’s already in the area

I much prefer his Not a Flame Thrower.

Yes, but Hard Rock keeps shooting itself in the foot, by using all the parking for (a) Dolphins training facility, (b) tennis center, (c) Formula 1 road course.

At some point, we might have to THINK about the possibility of partnering with someone/somehow to build something. There are two good spots along NW 7th Street.

We are literally not even the "second tenant" at the stadium any longer. A ONE-TIME EVENT (F1 race) took precedence over everything else this year. I mean, if you had an apartment, and then your landlord gave away the parking and the swimming pool, and the laundry room, at some point you'd probably try to find a new place.

I cannot think of a single other pro venue (stadium or arena) that has done something like this as aggressively as Hard Rock has.
