lets just hope he can catch the bad guys better than he did the opposing quarterbacks......

Well, that's not how he imagined it would turn out, but it very well be a more rewarding pursuit in the end. He looks like he's slimmed down some. Good luck to the man!

Good for him. He'll end up better off in the long run than many guys that make it in the NFL.

Happy for him. Congrats Marcus. Doing right by his family. Too bad other talented young men like him where things don't turn out as expected decide on different paths. Proud of officer Fortson, looks good.

Go Canes!

congrats to the young man, go provide for your family! Its a shame of what could have been though! I don't fault the young men for the **** show that we have called UM football. the leaders have been awful.

Good to hear. At least he's doing something positive with his life and trying to make a difference.

The police ARE terrorists! Well, if you're a criminal, thug, or thug wannabe. Guess what, those types deserve to be terrorized by the police so law abiding citizens aren't terrorized by the criminals, thugs, and thug wannabes.

While I do not agree with him calling cops terrorists, there are issues with the police. The police in some cases has not protected the black community, instead they terrorized it and every black child is taught from an early age to fear the police and not to be confrontational, most listen and some don't hence the tragedies. Don't have to be a criminal in america to be terrorized by the police, in some cases you're simply have to be black. More black cops can change that, I congratulate this young man for making a great choice. We need more like him...

Good for him, I heard APD is a great department

Looking forward to the pics of the first guy who resists arrest by Officer Forston.

No need to argue, but my mother is a teacher going on her 21st year and I've been in her classroom and have heard numerous students say they don't respect the police because they can't control me and are racist without even having a encounter with a law enforcement officer and say the same things about teachers and principals. I'm not saying they're aren't situations that have been unjustified but the generation as a whole(not just black children) coming up has a major issue with respect for others and authority in general.

You have the police confused with some of your neighbors. Not being confrontational is a good survival strategy for dealing with ANYONE who is armed, but the cop is the last guy that wants to shoot you. Nice use of qualifiers though, this allows you to put forward your programmed script while pretending to be rational. Will you still support a black cop if he, wishing to return home to his family, lawfully uses his weapon?
