Just take a look down here. There are only two stats we have regressed in. Passing D and Turnovers. Both a function of losing Mike Jack, Redwine and Jaquan. But take a look at rushing D. We are holding teams to 97 ypg.

Also, for the **** of it I put in net punting. We were horrible even in 2017.

Stats mean something but the below are rankings in context, aka versus other teams. Our D line is probably the best under Manny. It is insane.

Stat2016201720182019
Total D (Yards Allowed) 20 38 4 14
TFL 5 4 1 6
Sacks 22 1 9 5
Scoring D 12 12 18 18
Rushing D (Yards Allowed) 26 43 42 12
Passing D (Yards Allowed) 47 56 1 29
Turnovers 67 3 16 24
Net Punting 14 105 117 15

This is the sort of defense I've see crying about. Being respectable against the run. Of course the pass yardage is going to go up by default because people haven't had much success running.

I'm interested to see us against Louisville though. Louisville is ranked 22th in rush offense and they have a running QB.

I mean for f^ck’s sake looking at those numbers makes me want to hurl given our overall record. Why Manny wasn’t invested in the defense from the get-go beats me, but for the love of god Manny find an OC Like Bedenbaugh and we’ll be a top 8 team playing Clemson in the ACCCG for a potential playoff berth next season

Have a shot at finishing top 25 in pass defense and run defense. Pass defense is up to 29th. And they have louisville, fiu, and duke left. Dont know when the last time they finished top 25 in both but its been over 10 years.

What I don't understand about our defense is how we can look so competent in tackling a guy like Akers, probably the toughest back we face on our schedule, and yet struggle so badly tackling whoever terrible teams like GT and VT were trotting out there.
It's called playing down to your competition, in which both the coaching staff and the players have to share the blame.

I agree. Cardinals have speed on offense too. The Hawkins dude can fly. it will be a good matchup

This program will finally turn the corner when the players, collectively, take beating ACC teams seriously. We all know they will be focused and ready against certain teams but they need to focus every week and they clearly haven't been for 15 years.

The entire season so far can be summarized by that one sentence.

I actually believe now that this team has hit its stride confidence wise and could potentially win out. If they do, they will look back on those losses to GT, UNC, VT and really kick themselves. **** shame. ESPECIALLY the GT loss. That loss alone cost them the ACC Coastal title potentially and those clowns might end the season 2-10. Smh.

Yep. Hate to even think about that perfect storm of bad prep by the coaches, poor tackling,QB injuries, fluke scores and missed FGs.

So after 9 games no one else has played some bad teams. Over the year that evens out.
Exactly.

Clemson just played, you know I actually don't know who Clemson just played. Does Etienne not count those 200 some yards rushing?

The winning percentage of the teams Alabama has played is not even 40%, yet they are still ranked 1 or 2

focus and hit like they did Saturday and we start blowing out these basketball schools

maybe its what they needed. the team meeting after the gt loss. if this team wins out, itll suck when we look back at the losses, but if a marked improvement across the board is the result, we should be excited for next year.

Mannys defense is meant to stop spread teams. Which is why we usually do well against those teams. Where he struggles is against power teams with formidable offensive lines like Wisconsin. The lack of gap integrity against power teams gets us gashed.
