Manny will call Plays in 2021, Jess Back as DL Coach

Here's the issue. There's no indication that Blake James is under any pressure

So even if Mandy gets fired next year, we're in the same ******* position with Flake ******* up again

He'll promote Ed Reed and the mongos will eat it up

Truth.

Brother - on the front end, I am not disagreeing with you but what is the difference between a head coach who calls his own offensive plays (College & NFL) and a Head Coach that calls his own defense?

Why do people keep making this silly argument?

I don't care what MANNY does. I care what BLAKE DOESN'T DO (and still gets paid for). We could have hired the LB Coach version of T-Rob.

Which is the ultimate indictment on the entire University. He sat and watched Morris eat away at our baseball program and damage his legacy. He’s currently doing the same with Coach L and Manny. Total incompetence.

And for people who have doubted when I told yall that Manny literally took over Defensive play calling in the 2nd half of the VA Tech game, this all but confirms it...

Also this is exactly what I posted in the Brad Tejada podcast thread:

The fact that Diaz is taking over as the DC while keeping Bake is exactly why Banda left.

Banda should have been canned during the season. He was doing his own thing on gameday. Ed can’t stand him and he wasn’t going to be left standing no matter what.

Baker wasn’t. Rumph shouldn’t be kept also, lol at BS. you were one of the ones defending rumph prolly bc he played here. there are more alums on this board than just you. a lot of us here went there too. just wasting money but as cribby said -- win win bc we win were fine we lose everyones gone.

You are dopey.

You were wrong on "Rumph", but now you want to switch your earlier post to "Baker". Don't be mad at me because you (falsely) claimed that we retained Rumph to save money on a buyout.

And, no, I have not been "defending" Rumph. That's just the convenient excuse you make when anyone points out your factually incorrect posts.

Baker should have, not Banda.

He was doing his own thing because he wanted to take over play calling & Diaz didn’t want to ruffle feathers between him & baker because Banda & Bake didn’t get along. Ed Reed not liking him is irrelevant, former Hurricanes always hate our position coaches, because most of them resent guys they feel don’t deserve to be in a spot that they'd rather see one of their former teammates being in. Most former Canes were Rumph loyalists so of course they made Banda a scapegoat, but this picture of him as this bad coach is nothing but propaganda.

I guarantee you Banda will be a better DC than Baker was at both LA Tech & Miami.

Blake Anderson comes from the Rocky Long coaching tree, the same Coaching tree that has produced 3 of the best Defensive coaches in the business in guys like Danny Gonzales, Zach Arnett & Brady Hoke, he would’t have hired Banda as his DC if he was as bad as people on the board swear he is.

The anti Banda crowd really doesn’t have a leg to stand on when Baker gets stripped of his play calling duties & Rumph gets relegated down to a desk job in the recruiting department, if those two guys were worth a ****, some SEC team would’ve already knocked down the door to hire them both.

I think people are confusing disappointment with the lack of a splash hire with thinking this move (or lack of it) is the key to winning or losing more games. In 2019, the defense was #23 in points allowed. Yup, top 25. We went 6-7. In 2020, the D was #51, but we finished 8-3. Why? Because the offense was ranked #90 in 2019 and #26 in 2020. If Miami has a top 10 offense we win 10 games and it doesn't matter whether Manny Diaz, Charlie Strong, or Brent Venables is calling plays. People are getting bent out of shape about the wrong things.

Nick Saban couldn't have made it clearer. The dude who hated the Oregon style offense and said it was bad for football now says offense wins championships. You saw it yourself with a UF team that has a mediocre defense nearly beating Bama. It looks like fans have regressed to "Miami is all about pro-style, bro" thinking and its going to take another decade of playing catch up before fans realize the game has changed. Yeah it's a waste of money keeping Baker since he isn't calling plays anymore. But that's not going to have much of an impact on the W/L column as having WRs that catch passes like they are wearing oven mitts.

Just like I called it exactly... Because it's the BEST solution.

Manny is better than any options that were available. **** yeah!
That's likely how Manny viewed the situation, time will tell if he was correct or if he should have been trying to appease the CIS mob looking for a splash hire
