Manny will be calling the defense moving forward!!!

Did he say he's calling the defense or that he'll be "more involved"?
More involved. He didn't say specifically that he would be calling plays. He did say that he was not happy with how the D was playing, not happy with leadership of the D, and would be more involved with that side of the ball moving forward.

Here's the link:

Diaz is just going to get more involved on that side of the ball. Doesn't mean he's calling plays. But Manny has to understand this fanbase and saw what happens with the two previous regimes when favortism (D'Onofrio with Golden; Searles, J. Richt and old offense with Richt) was a constant issue. At some point, Baker's going to have to go, if Manny starts making excuses like Golden did, then his reign here will be short as he's already feeling the heat from the fanbase. This is at least a start as I never heard Golden once criticize the defense during his tenure.

He must realize this ship is sinking fast...If hes smart he controls what he can which is the defense and hope enos can put up points like we did this week more often

Wouldnt surprise me jf we see big changes this offseason on both ends of the staff

He was already involved in the defense. He’s not going throw his boys under the bus publicly. So saying I’ll be more involved in defense is the only way of saying I’ll be calling the plays.

the difference now is mannys d had holes but we had two DL coaches who were good enough to mask it.

So in manny’s defense two DLine coordinators were successful and none were unsuccessful. Then he gives up the defense and the new DLine isn’t successful. So that exposes Manny’s defense of the previous three years? Streeeeeeeeetch

lol he never said he’s calling plays. “More involved” = advising on general gameplan.

So wtf was he doing before this then? I know it isn't recruiting. Deciding how the rings should look?

This is an adjustment that should have been made halfway thru game 2.

manny just needs togo at this point

One of his biggest flaws as a football coach, despite his displayed willingness to adjust and adapt, is that he’s simply *too slow* to do so when necessary. He arguably could have corrected the problems his defense initially had a lot sooner than 2018, and it could have meant a significant performance difference.

Part of being a good coach is the ability to identify problems and correct them very quickly. He should have never hired Baker in the first place, but he waited too long to do this and the defense has suffered.
