Didn't see them so I can't comment.

All indications are we still have a loooooooooong way to go before any decision is made on who our starter is.

What's crazy is , we were this bad at QB and have to get basics all over again even after they've been here 11/2 years,it's just so bad to have had this deterioration to the point we were just free spinning doing what ever with no solid grounding to grow and evolve in raising the bar.

Like starting all over like little league.

Manny says:

Day after day, one guy may poke his nose in front then the other guy pokes his nose… It’s all just mental right now.

And so, yeah, would somebody jump out there and run away with it in the next two weeks? That’s possible. But there’s a real good chance it could go into the summer.”

QB competition is going into the summer, fellas. Count on it.

Like I’ve been preaching, even in the unlikely event someone starts pulling away in the next two weeks left of practices and scrimmages, this competition will be won between the end of spring practice and the first few weeks of summer practice.

Whoever puts in that time, to put in not only the extra physical work and improve their footwork, throwing motion etc., but also to learn the offense so that it becomes second nature, and then implement that in practice in the summer/fall, that’ll be your day one starter. They will all still be in it at the end of spring practice.

Manny wants to play fast, and you don’t do that without knowing the offense inside and out

TNM is on track and skipper MD is smart enough to know that if you want all the QB's to "strain" their minds and body to the fullest, you keep everyone guessing.

I'd actually be very concerned if it was anything else than what you've described. Naming a starter now would be more indicative of poor overall quality and/or very low ceilings on all of the guys in that room than one guy magically pulling ahead super quick and being the real solution to our problem at that position.

Totally agree, I think Enos wants to see who will immerse themselves in the playbook after spring is done ,as well as how each QB comport themselves with regards to off the field maturity on their own time. Enos said he's looking at the total package thus the competition goes into summer.

The key will be who of the 3 QBs does the most with their time between now and the start of summer practice. This includes understanding and conceptualizing the new playbook, practicing on their own with their teammates (especially the WRs and RBs), getting their bodies into elite playing shape, etc. This has always been the winning formula and what some of the past great UM QBs (Jim Kelly, Vinnie Testaverde, Ken Dorsey, Craig Erickson, Steve Walsh, etc.) used to do with their spare time. And I am sure this will be the principal differentiator at the position. I wish all three the best, and may the best one win and take us to a great year of top notch football. GO CANES!!

Of course it goes to summer, because one if not both of the losers likely to leave

Agreed. I feel the competition at QB will go into the Summer because no one has truly separated themselves from the rest of the pack. As Manolo said, one pokes their nose in front only to regress behind. We certainly need consistency out of the position to have any shot at a decent, to great, season. I believe all three will still feel they have a puncher’s shot at starting so all of them will go into the Summer looking to improve their technique, footwork, ball placement, and throwing accuracy.

If there is no clear leader after spring, there is a problem, locker room will know long before coaches announce

I disagree. If there is no clear leader after spring there is not a problem. I don’t even see how that could be a problem. Maybe you can explain it to me.

“All three pretty much even,” Enos said. “All of them played really, really slow - slow in the huddle, slow at the line of scrimmage. Too indecisive, all three of them at times. The pocket demeanor got them in problems at times and when they played more decisive and their feet were good they played very well.

Enos stressed he’s not worried about the QB position and pointed out that the defense has the continuity of having the same system while “we’re trying to learn a whole new offense.”

“Not worried at all,” Enos said. “The competition for all three will make each one better players and the cream rises to the top. May be the best man win.”
