Manny presser 3/12

It’s nice to hear he’s a hard worker, but lifting weights and drinking protein shakes isn’t all that probative when it comes to big time QB play. We’ll only know if he has the actual goods when it counts.
You sure? I heard Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, and Justin Fields all drank protein shakes with the best of them.

I thought the state of Florida was "open for business" as far as fans attending games went? At least some, right?
Covid isn't the only possible reason that it won't be accessible. It could be a cost issue. Would you be willing to commit to spending millions on a scrimmage game without any assurances of recouping that expense?

Manny Diaz presser today:
“I could see our back seven different types of mix and matching. You could have guys go from safety to striker, guys go from striker to will. There is some positional flexibility there that we’ll use the next 15 days to try to find out just who we think can play.”

Wondering if he’s thinking about moving Keontra Smith to will? I don’t think Frierson would move to will. According to PFF, Keontra had the top run defense grade and 2nd best tackling grade on the team last year (behind Flagg). He only missed one tackle all season. He’s listed at 5-11, 215 lbs, so he could realistically make the move if he adds another 5-10 lbs. It would be interesting to see him and Flagg at LB - a lot of speed and more importantly, your two best tacklers.

I remember seeing that, but he's just been an afterthought here. Nothing against anyone else, but I'd love to see him come screaming back from obscurity. Deciding which quarterback to play because they're all so good is a problem I'd love to have.
It's why I want a 100% open competition. No offence to King, as I love what he can do, it's not like he's Trevor Lawrence. He has weaknesses in his game, as well as strengths. A real competition, not just one for the backup spot, will really push everyone to get better. And yes, King has to get better as well.

That being said, I think King would win it. I just think being pushed, and doing the pushing, would improve everyone.

Got it! But ... I doubt putting on a scrimmage game costs "millions."

How many people does it take to prepare the field, clean the stadium, open concessions, handle security and parking? How much do utilities cost? Attendance was 9,102 for the 2019 spring game. Is it worth it?

Kyle Trask:
6'4" 225 lbs, low 3 star (.79) from Manvel, Texas
DT QB Felipe Franks' season ending injury opened the door for Trask

"Between Feleipe Franks’ breakout 2018 and Emory Jones’ progress and potential, it’s hard to see a path to playing time for Trask. Yet there he stood, alone at a table last week at UF’s media day, still wearing orange and blue, even though he could have left several times by now."

Peyton Matocha:
6"4" 204 lb, mid 3 star (.83) from Houston, Texas
DT QB D'Eriq King's season ending injury will open the door for Matocha

Everyone thinks Matocha is a bum who will never see the field.

Prepare to have your face melted by Matocha turning into a Heisman candidate in 2021.
