I speak Italian Fluently and can’t understand the Neapolitan Street Dialect, definitely need the sub titles

I can read and write Italian, speak it just ok, not as fluent as I’m sure you can of course, but there was a lot I couldn’t make out so I assumed that it was the Neapolitan dialect like you said, that was mixed in there.

Also, they seemed to cut off a lot of words. Like with Gennaro, they would always say ”Genna…” - never pronounced the “ro”, maybe it was a shortened nickname, I don’t know.

Nov 13, Tallahassee. Trying to get to Louisville Clemson a week prior too.
Got travel ball so will see, I've got Bama and App state on the go but I won't know my kids schedule for fall ball until the end of the month but if it's open....I'll be there.

I listened rebroadcast end to end twice...

- See my earlier posts (I'm joking)
- Freshman were all put on 3 line to start... some will rise, some will not
- Upperclass were put on 1/2 line... some will stay/some will rise/some will not
- He feels more than 5 OL are starter caliber (he's obviously medicated)
- See COVID forum for further detail on fairly big tidbit
- QB1 is King. Period. (sorry QB1 Garcia stans)
- King has taken runs and made hard cuts "on purpose to prove it to his teammates and himself"
- He sees TVD vs Garcia contest lasting all year
- Hedley is P1. Period.
- No other starting position is locked
- Feels WR room is deepest/mixed its ever been
- Didn't at all mention LB position (unless I missed), but not a word
- Is high on depth and push potential recent class brings
- Lashlee is going to have 2 primary RBs... tough choice with 3 capable names in room
Because LB is no longer a football position at the University of Miami.
4-0-7 baby.
Let's roll.

My grandmother had the Neapolitan "street" dialect down pat.
The last syllable, if it ended in a vowel, would just fade out.

I haven't seen the show, but if you listen carefully, they're probably saying "Genn-odd", with the 'r" pronounced as a "d" (fading fast) and the "o" being a no-show.

I' ve started watching the show using my Boomhauer translator device.

Yea it’s nicknames. With the southern dialects they use the U in their words more often. But even with that they’re using street language in the Dialog a lot. Gennaro speaks Italian to his wife and the business men but switches back when he talks to his associates

Yea that sounds about right. Thanks for the lesson. I hope to visit the general area especially Pompeii one day.

There’s so many different dialects in Europe, and even different languages in the same country, for example in Spain, I can also speak Spanish, there’s Castilian, which is pretty close like Neapolitan is to Italian, Catalan which is different, etc. etc.

yeah one thing I noticed he was a lot easier to understand when he was talking to his wife. Boy was she a looker, wasn't she?

The stupid thing is if you're a college coach looking to impress ADs/boosters or an NFL assistant looking to impress owners/GMs it can't hurt to to be forthcoming and articulate with the media. It can also garner some goodwill with the fans and educating your fanbase is good for business. Golden was able to delay the heat by being engaging with the media early on. Then he got more coy and evasive as the losing piled up and that never helps. Diaz is following the same playbook as Shannon and Golden.

I was listening to the Athletic NFL podcast with Robert Mays and he tried his absolute hardest to ask specific questions of Byron Leftwich and got total cliche non-answers every time. Then he asked similar questions of Arians and got opposite answers of what Leftwich gave. Next hiring season the Bucs could be in the middle of another title run with a historic offense and I'd still be surprised if Leftwich got real consideration for HC jobs. And the media will of course blame his race when it's the dull robotic personality that's a tough sell as the leader of a billion-dollar franchise.
Like Bellicheck and Saban yeah?

I love people that listen to these interviews hoping and praying that this time, after decades of Coach speak, the coach will actually tell them something relevant.
agree, I withhold judgement till we play Bama : hoping we are on our way back

....honestly, I don't know why anyone even bothers listening to this kind of coach-speak and nonsense. Just start winning games again, find away to beat North Carolina in their house (for the fourth time since 2004 and win the f'n Coastal for the second time since joining the ACC.

Anything else is just distortion and noise.
Used to loved the JJ interviews, straight shooter, yup we are better, and if we don't beat ourselves I don't see us losing .

I myself, find a lot to be excited about this year. I think Manny does too and he's letting it show. I like that he keeps bringing up the Miami Standard because he's being consistent and he's constantly working towards that and it just so happens he has ACTUAL studs this year and enough players to fill slots. What would you all have him do last year? Bench 8 and 6 and plugin who (other than Smith)? Payton? The guy fires or reassigns people every offseason to move the needle towards the 'standard'. I'm for one give him the slack - I remember the Dorito Era or Richt where NOTHING happened.
Agree Manny does not stand pat: you go to like that about him
