Manny on Hurricane Hotline

If you went by this board UM fans would be the dumbest in the world . Luckily I know a large portion of the people that flock to boards are trolls either in terms of intent or just plain stupidity and this is a prime example.

HE LITERALLY SAID THE SAME 2 THINGS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN *****ING ABOUT NONSTOP UNDER RICHT and yet someone posts drivel like this . LOL .

100% I wish I hadn't posted this. smdh. some of these people just look for negative crap to say - they love to wallow in negativity

I get what hes saying, but you cant blame kids for wanting to leave when they know they're being coached by retards and will have nothing to play for.

Would you want to be coached by donofrio or jon richt? Would you want your kids coached by them?

Still tho, get your degree.

Most of you dopes continue to prove that you lack the cognitive ability to differentiate between “I don’t want to sign top prospects” and what Diaz said. Are you guys really that dumb or just looking for stuff to spin into your web of tears?

Here's the reality - and this is coming from someone who was HEATED at Manny through much of October, and overall, think this season has (and will be) a bit of a letdown -- but there's a faction of fans that no matter what Manny says, they will find a way to parse that quote and rip him for it. Never mind if it's justified or not.

I remember back in the mid-2000's a few years removed from 2001, when our own fan base kept parroting 'NFL U!!' as our current teams kept underachieving and backsliding under Coker, that many of us were concerned that we had a program that was becoming too focused on their future Sundays, and not the Saturdays in Miami.

Most reasonable people - whether they are pro or anti-Diaz- can comprehend what he's saying, here.

and yeah, it would be refreshing to not lead the league in future 4th and 5th round draft choices that came out as juniors.

There are two guys, that came from his side of the ball, that I’m guessing cemented this view Manny has. They are good examples of what he is referencing.

Take a wild guess.

I was rightfully right with you after GT. And UNC. And VT

But we’ve looked good for a couple weeks.

If we struggle vs FIU, I’m crying fly the banner again.

But let’s just have fun for a little bit and assume we win out.

GT L was catastrophic. It exposed Miami coaching staff and players in a brutal way.

Our Hurricanes are likely 3-5 years from sniffing ACCCD Title chance, let alone ACC Title.

Next recruiting class will be poor, below average at best.

What will Diaz defenders say then? More time? More resources?

Look at my posting history, I gave Manuela the benefit of the doubt, and losing to a high school squad removed all doubt.

Good to see there are still some bright guys on here.

C'mon. That's the desire of a significant number of DIP5 athletes. If not mistaken, even the great Edge James advised other players as much.

The money and the risk are too great to stay. It would be nice for them to do so, but this is 2019, not 1950.

Top prospects who develop into top draft picks are unlikely to produce on CFB fields for more than 3 seasons.

We’re still playing like garbage. As you would know if you watched our games without Canes glasses on.

TBH, I’m half expecting FIU to be a tougher game than people expect.

I believe D gave up almost 500 yds to Louisville correct?

First step for JT is fully committing himself to the team and wanting to be the best he can be. Until then the only thing Diaz can do is keep recruiting guys like Harley and Dallas.

From afar, JTs issues appear to run much deeper than "team".

I do want this to be NFLU. And I hope to god Manny isn’t the type that would rather have someone who can get drafted stay an extra year unpaid....
I want the best for our canes players...

Yes someone like brad Kayya maybe made a folkish decision. But to say someone like that was “using” us... no.

Hopefully I’m overthinking this
You are

If I recall, you wrote an article or a long post on the Scout board stating we need to drop the NFLU bit.

Agree 100%

We’re not talking about Shockey, Winslow, Taylor or Dre Johnson. Top 5, 10, 15 selections. Or even later selections like Duke. These players took pride in their body of work and busted their ***.

Remember the MNW clods who turned pro without so much as an NFL evaluation? These are the players Diaz is referring to. All had talent but did the minimum to get by for three years so they could declare.

Some interesting messages sent by Manny on this week's Hurricane Hotline. From the Herald write up:

Two things that have been happening in recent years that are unacceptable to Manny Diaz;

1. Coaching of the quarterbacks and accountability in the quarterback room are dramatically better. Watching offensive coordinator Dan Enos work with these quarterbacks — and seeing the results — reflects just how much was lacking in that area under the previous regime.

“Dan Enos had a lot of jobs when he came here, but changing the culture in the quarterback room was top of the list in terms of how they study, how they watch film, how they prepare, how they do walk-throughs,” Diaz told WQAM’s Joe Zagacki and Don Bailey Jr. on Hurricane Hotline.
“We will be in a walk-through in a hotel ballroom and Dan will call a pass play and guys will run routes. [Jarren Williams] with his feet and eyes will go through his progressions, very robotically. You don’t have to do that. You’re in a hotel! He’s understanding, ‘My eyes go there.’ He’s also resetting his feet.

2. UM doesn’t want to be used as some transitional bridge between high school and the NFL. Manny and the staff obviously want NFL prospects on the team, but he also wants players who are not using their UM experience primarily as a stepping-stone. There were more than a half dozen Canes in recent years who turned pro early, only to be drafted very late or not at all.
“We had a run where Miami was being used a little bit by players [where they] do what you have to do and get out,” Diaz said on Hurricane Hotline. “And that’s left Miami in the spot it’s been, as opposed to it’s their job to get Miami back to where [it was]. Getting guys to understand that is [is paramount].

Really well done recap of what Manny said on the program.

Manny gets its dude will get this squad back to where it belongs in college football top teams.

Maybe “mopes” (really realists is a better term) should accuse slurpers of being trolls, like slurpers always accuse mopes of being trolls.

This is one thing I've never understood about our "fan-base", why do so many people care about how many players we have in the pro's, etc.
I get the whole it attracts better players to the program aspect, but as a fan?
I couldn't honestly care less, I have zero interest in being NFLU just my .02.
