Manny on ESPN

It’s like he heard he was the former D Coordinator at Miami and just hired him based off of that. He probably thought he must’ve been fired as part of the Head Coach getting fired. Never doing any research to uncover the HC was actually fired because of his undying loyalty to him.

I thought there was some stupid letter that No D wrote him. It shows that applewhite is soft if he fell for it though.

Manny wont lose many press conferences, that much is for sure

If he can get this staff constructed properly, we just might have a fighting chance with him

Him just blowing out the entire offensive staff in cold blooded fashion showed me that he isn't settling for the status quo

Welp. Everyone seems to think the OC is Fedora. I mean, they were all laughing about it and gave Manny the opportunity to break it.

The one thing I do like is when Manny says he wants the O to play Miami football, I believe him, philosophically. Everyone says it, but I belive he means it, and he’s doing things to make it happen. This I like.

That’s because he’s actually backed up what he says. He said the same thing about the defense when he got to Miami, and he did it. He said he needed to generate more turnovers, and he did. Same thing for third down conversions. Now he needs to get some elite recruiters, and keep the talent home.

he understand miami. talking the youth football. that is the stuff that concerned me about babers, campbell, etc
I think that's something that sometimes gets lost in the Manny hire - his familiarity with SFL. No learning curve as far as culture and environment whereas another guy from bumfuq Egypt might take some time, if ever, (Golden) to understand those things. Even with no HC experience, knowing the surroundings has to be a distinct advantage.

right. thats why people didnt understand when i said babers, brown, and campbell would be nightmares

When it all shockingly went down, I was willing to accept a "splash" hire but that was still a concern as to how that hire could quickly learn the unique environment of SFL - especially if they had never recruited the area. In the back of my mind, I thought Manny would be a good fit but wasn't sure how tied he was to Temple. Water under the bridge now! So far, so good.

This, this and this.

I've drank the Kool aid with Golden, Mark, and ever a little with Randy. This time I am waiting for the field and the complete season of it. We are never getting Butch so I hope the **** Manny can make it work. But with Urban out there, just seems the school once again made the easy decision and for them that means someone who will not be anything like what Manny is selling right now. School is undefeated in picking losers(that is what they really want) since they screwed up picking Butch. Odds are they knew they had their man. For us Butch lovers and you Butch haters, we need to hope that the University screwed up like it did would Butch and got the wrong guy this time.

Honest question, what is so different about SFL that its important for a coaching hire to learn. I graduated from Miami but that was in the 90's so I really am curious about this.

I was born and raised in the original 305 in the 60's and 70's. Been away for some time now. It's changed drastically in the last 2 or 3 decades. One example would be that when I played optimist ball at Pembroke Pines Optimist in the late 60's and early 70's, we had 3 weight classes with an average of about 20 players per. From what some of the guys on here have mentioned, there are now teams divided up by age groups because there are so many kids playing. Add to that, the diverse and large population must also be challenging to navigate. Just a couple of things that in my view add to the unique situation of SFL.

Thank you for the reply.

Bit of lisp for sure...and a prominent jaw...dare we say Shula-esque?
