I’m about half way through it, but Bennie is saying exactly what we are all saying.

He mentions he has a meeting with the university on Oct 20

He also questions the commitment based on prior meetings with Julio and Blake. Rightfully so

Frenk and James are not going to take Bennie Blades seriously. They're just trying to try to put out some of the flames by giving him this meeting.

The second he said he's not going to say anything bad about the school or program he lost me. That's exactly what they want. Be mad and keep fluffing up the university but stay quiet. Those are the exact guys they'll approve this meeting with. If they cared, or planned change, they would do the same for Joaquin Gonzalez. But he's too vocal for them.

If only Jerome Brown was still alive. He would be marching around Hecht in his camo looking for heads to roll. To me, he (and Zo) is more responsible than any player for the culture that developed at the program than anyone. He wouldn’t sit by and be quiet, that’s for sure. RIP to the GOAT.

Yeah Bennie should sneak attack them with a Billy Corbin film crew and bring Joaquin Gonzalez with him

When you order a burger at McDs that comes out with a bandaid on it you don’t ask to talk to the dip**** cook that made it, you talk to the manager ( BOT in this case)

I didnt take him saying hes not going to say anything bad about the program or university as him saying hes going in there to shine their shoes either.

He loves the school, loves the program and I think thats where it ends with him.

One thing I am glad is that Manny wasnt invited to the meeting. If he had been in the meeting than I would have taken it as a waste of time.

Any noise is good noise. I dont see Derrick Brooks saying hes going to Tally to talk to the FSU admin and president about the state of the program. Im glad we have guys who still give a **** enough to say their peace 30 years later.

The Prez and AD know we are all ****ed and want immediate changes. They found that out loud (the booing at the UVA game when they said Blakes name and when Manny came up on the videotron) and clear (the 34k in attendance; smallest crowd in a decade)

Them knowing about the problem and them doing something about it are very different things, unfortunately.

Well, I would doubt they would have a meeting with him if he were publicly badmouthing them on social media or elsewhere. My take, and it's only a hunch, is that he is there representing the old guard..the Bratton's, Bain's, Zo's etc who are very publicly calling for change. They also have some financial clout to offer the university or for that matter pull if changes are not happening. So you could be right and nothing happens or he could be going in there with some leverage to make something happen. It appears nothing will happen until the end of the season anyways. We'll see.

He also said in his opinion, it's 70% on the kids to do their jobs on the field and 30% on the coaches. He talked about the kids not wanting success enough. They claim to want to hit the league but really don't want to work hard enough to do that the right way. Pretty much said the same thing many on this board have; kids are mentally soft. When adversity hits them in the mouth, they don't fight back - or at least enough of them don't fight back. He talked about Bubba Bolden - said he's spoken to him and plans to do it again.

He talked about the mentality of the kids Bama, clemson, OSU and others pluck out of So florida. those kids work their butts off to get into the league. they don't always make it for long once they get there but the bottom line is they get their $$ and most are set for life.

Honestly, the first thing that went through my head when he mentioned October 20 as the date of his meeting is maybe there will already be a coaching change in the works.... Could be a very different kind of meeting...

The bolded things do not track for me...
Did we recruit kids who were mentally soft and/or not hard working? Then those were bad evaluations, and I'm going to put most of the blame on the coaches. Did we recruit kids that became mentally soft and lost their drive while at UM? Sounds like bad culture, and I'm going to put most of the blame on the coaches.

They go elsewhere and the opposite happens, weird.
