Surprised this has not been posted yet. Manny Navarro has the Canes going 10-2. He's been dispassionate/objective when making these predictions, so this surprises me a bit. Hopes he right!

BY MANNY NAVARRO

Sept. 3 Florida A&M 6 p.m. (ESPN3)
The Mark Richt era gets off to a flying start against a Rattlers team coming off a 1-10 season. UM 45, FAMU 7.

Sept. 10 FAU 6 p.m. (ESPN3)
Despite being a three-win team last season, the Owls were only down three points to UM at the half last season. This one might feel close
for a half, too. UM 37, FAU 14.

Sept. 17 at Appalachian State Noon (ESPN)
Mountaineers, 11-2 and Camelia Bowl winners last season, can run the football and will put a decent scare into the Canes. UM 34,
Appalachian St. 23

Oct. 1 at Georgia Tech (TBA)
The Yellow Jackets, losers of six of the past seven in the series, will not be much better than the 3-9 team they were a year ago. UM 31,
Georgia Tech 17

Oct. 8 Florida State (TBA)
Noles have notched six wins in a row in the series and can match the longest win streak of any team in the series. But Brad Kaaya, who was
9 years old the last time UM beat FSU at home, won’t let ’em. UM 31, FSU 28

Oct. 15 North Carolina (TBA)
The Tar Heels throttled the Canes 59-21 in Chapel Hill last season and still have enough firepower around to score plenty. UM 34, UNC 31.

Oct. 20 at Virginia Tech, 7 p.m. (ESPN)
Five days is not a lot of time to prepare for a Thursday night game in Blacksburg, and this is where the Canes’ run of perfection ends. Va.
Tech 26, UM 23

Oct. 29 at Notre Dame, 3:30 p.m. (NBC)
Miami’s first trip to South Bend since 1990 should feature two nationally ranked teams with something to play for. Expect a classic. Notre
Dame 27, UM 24

Nov. 5 Pittsburgh (TBA)
Panthers are a good squad, but the Canes should beat them for the 18th time in the past 20 meetings. UM 35, Pitt 17

Nov. 12 at Virginia (TBA)
Canes haven’t won in Charlottesville since 2008 and are 2-4 there all time. Expect another struggle but a Canes win. UM 20, Virginia 17

Nov. 19 at N.C. State (TBA)
The Wolfpack, coming off a 7-6 season, has a weak secondary and is primed to get lit up by Kaaya. UM 38, N.C. State 21

Nov. 26 Duke (TBA)
Miami won’t need a miracle finish this time to lock up its first Coastal Division crown. UM 41, Duke 21

Lulz... He's nuts. This team will lose a close one to at least one of the road dogs due to depth and inexperience and will have a hard time going 2-2 as a dog. 8-4

Got to give Manny kudos, that is a pretty good prediction. I'll take that season any day.

If we go 8-4, why did we fire Golden? We didn't hire Richt to go 8-4. This team is very talented, and I can see improvement in almost every aspect of our game due to superior coaching. We were so putrid in so many areas the last several years, like 3rd down conversions, and stopping teams on 3rd down. I fully expect those numbers to go from horrible to at LEAST average. That could easily make a 2 game difference over last year. I also expect us to beat FSU this year. They are NOT world beaters, and that stadium will be extremely loud. For the first time in ages we will have a home field advantage, and it'll show against FSU.

37 against FAMU? We should have 40 on em at halftime with the backups playing

I agree. They shouldn't be able to stop us in anything we do. We could run the ball 60 times and still score 40+.

Except... it was FAU...

The percentages are higher for Miami to lose to NC, rather than VT...

Other than that, I'm ok with the rest of the predictions.

Why did Alabama fire Mike Shula for Saban to go 7-6? Why did OSU fire John Cooper for Jim Tressel to go 7-5? The list goes on in year 1.

We take VaTech -- this is not Mark's first big big game under the lights. The dude at VT was eating ribs in Memphis last year. Not the same game. I see 10-1 with ND being the problem. If Miami and ND are unbeaten at the start of that week, everything will be about Catholics vs Convicts all day every day,and Game Day is in SB. SEC and NFL will fade into background for the one week. If we take out ND then it is on to ACCCG and shot at playoffs.

Because they both know how to cheat and not get caught.
