Regardless of what Manny meant, there isn't a single intelligent Canes fan who can argue this program doesn't need a major improvement in the confidence/attitude department. Jimmy Johnson doesn't get enough credit for injecting an incredible amount of swagger/confidence into this program. It's true, confidence is built on success; however, JJ played games with an attitude to not only win games but destroy his opponents. They played with heart. And if we were behind, we NEVER gave up. The players fed off his persona. Anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Now? Our players are bragging about being a "team" for the first time ever in the Golden era. The goal is to compete for the Coastal. Really? I know it is hard to accept this but this program is completely soft like Golden.

JJ hasn't been our coach in 20+ years. We won multiple titles after he was gone. We just need a new coach period. Soft is just a way to describe why we are not winning.

Listening to Herndon's dad on Ferman's podcast validated my point. The guy was completely bought into Golden and that this truly is year 1 of the Al Golden tenure. Golden is a tremendous salesman and knows he has the ability to manipulate people among the best of them. The team is currently riding a new high of the new year which is what he is using to create hope. When Ferman and Manny go on record stating the team lacks emotion and doesn't practice at a high level it shows that the kids aren't completely bought into this false hope he is selling them. He is the husband that hits his wife and says he won't do it again, yet continues to while she lives in fear but still "loves him".

Not buying it. The players didn't coach themselves, and there is no way to prove that was the case. Does every coach that wins with another coaches players have to give credit to the previous coach for winning? And how do you measure softness? Rushing yards for? Rushing yards against? Yards per play? I just think we are making excuses for why the guy is a bad coach. I don't think we are soft, we just have a sorry *** head coach.

I can totally see how Herndon's dad could believe this is year 1. Herndon's dad believe the sanctions are the reason we are not winning, I don't believe that. I think Golden is a ****** coach, and therefore, should be fired, but I can see how Golden can show Herndon's dad a depth chart where we had to depend on a bunch of freshman in the past.

Players have been practicing in south florida for years in this heat and 50 pounds of pads for years including the 5 national championship teams we had! No excuse.
