Manny Has Proven Me Wrong

Lets not crown him yet because we did come out flat IMO.

Manny has been good at halftime adjustments but I just wish his game planning was as good. Some of the stuff that FSU and UNC ran we looked unprepared for till Manny made adjustments.

Great post. Made me think of that little phaggit Asante Samuel Jr post L "I don't care what happens, I love my brothers and am glad I came here" haha

Lawrence Cager is glad too, but he hates Samuel's brothers and likes the fact AS doesn't care about losing to the Canes, all the more reason he should stay in Trailerhassee. AMF

I don't watch enough of the opposing teams to know if they're doing some different things than they've done in previous games, maybe even just how they're blocking on certain plays. I remember he said something about that when they played GT last year I think, where they were gashing Miami, until they made changes to the defense. Either way, it's nice that the defense usually seems to get better as the game goes on.

I imagine you'll have a moment or two where you rethink that this season, but I applaud you admitting the L.

This is a feast or famine D. When it's not on, it can be painful. But my god, when it works tis a thing of beauty.
Agreed, I want to make sure no more true freshman making their first start (Pitt) or historically below avg QBs (Wisc/UNC) don’t have career games against us before handing out praise.

I have been hard on this defense too. And while this season has provided some great excitement on that side of the ball, I am not ready to change my position until we do it against a decent team. That isn't going to happen until the ACC CG, and an eventual bowl. I still expect a decent coach with a competent QB and an above average line to exploit us the same way we were in the past. Hope I am wrong and eating crow in January, though.

This is where I sit too. It’s still too early

I still disagree on Manny. I'm not giving him credit for the front four being completely unblockable. If anything it's quite the opposite when he finally stopped blitzing and decided to let his players play sound defense.

Give Manny props for learning from his mistakes from LSU.

We now do far less subbing, particularly at LB and DB than we did that game. We got gashed by their RB when we had 6 backups in, including a 3rd stringer in Jennings.

Havent seen anything like that outside of garbage time since

not sure why we did that in the first place, keep your ballers on the field at all times unless they need a quick breather; no way Jennings was ready to play in a game that big

I think Manny is a slightly above average DC who benefits from being a great fit with Miami's skillset. He might get exposed by good OC's but overall he shouldn't be near the top of things fans complain about it.

Irrelevant but I think if Kiffin leaves, FAU would be smart to go after him. Intriguing as a HC

Interesting test this week, not a great offense, but a good DT QB, the type that always seems to give us trouble.

Outschemed? The QB had a good half and they lost by 24. This is why you're called Broke.
Stfu and watch the game, they did get outschemed in that game especially early on. “This is why they call you broke”, come up with something new ****head

Do you remember the Redwine blitz?

That changed the game.

HAHAHA glad to know i can get to you so easily. You should drop the tough guy act too.

I do watch the games, but when you make dumb *** comments it makes me wonder whether or not you watch the games. Benkurt had a good half where they picked on our LBs (still the key to success against us) and Benkurt made a few GREAT throws on deep balls. What happened. We adjusted and beat that ***.

Outschemed and losing by 24 aren't even remotely close to being the same thing. Try again Broke

I swear people think Manny just stopped what he was doing in the second half of panhandle and the DLine just took over. While the Dline did in fact take over, we still ran the same **** we were running.

I actually think Shaq being injured made Manny get creative with personnel and he might have found something with his 3DL, Pinck, Finley, 6 DB defensive grouping

#1 in the nation on 3rd down after finishing in the 70's last season. Manny has shown an ability to adjust during games and during the off season. The changes he's implemented to his defense are all the difference in the world. Miami got roasted by a bunch of bum QBs through the air last season. This year nobody has passed well against them.

So far Miami is:
#2 Total Defense
#1 3rd down percentage defense
#5 (tie) in interceptions
#3 pass defense
#7 rushing defense
#6 passing efficiency defense
#8 (tie) sacks per game
#1 tackles per loss per game
#5 turnovers gained
#23 scoring defense (pick sixes and special teams scores still count against the defense for some reason).

Statistically, Miami can at least make a claim to having the best defense in the nation.
