I imagine you'll have a moment or two where you rethink that this season, but I applaud you admitting the L.

This is a feast or famine D. When it's not on, it can be painful. But my god, when it works tis a thing of beauty.

Oh I thought about waiting til the end of the season but that would have been weak. I’m sure there will be frustrating moments, as is only natural, but Manny got my respect. Can’t ask for much more than how good the defense is playing.

Our defense is putting up some elite numbers.

Let's see how it holds up over ACC play
 
Manny is killing it. Took Fedora and Taggart's souls. Doesn't mean there won't be rough games, it happens, but the only people who had him on the hot seat were Canes fans.
 
This week is a big test, uva outschemed us last year in this game, time for payback.
 
Even when FSU scored it wasn’t like our defense was out of position, dudes just didn’t make plays

FSUs 2nd TD I believe Redwine watches the ball go right to the receiver and then watches him run right past him. Got guys running into and blocking each other

**** like that happens.

Only thing he did that bothered me was blitzing like crazy on 3rd and longs and leaving huge holes in the D when you have an elite DL and a great secondary

When they're doing their thing it's like a passage from the old testament. As long as we win, I'll take the mistakes if I can watch 2 QTs of fire and brimstone.

I have been hard on this defense too. And while this season has provided some great excitement on that side of the ball, I am not ready to change my position until we do it against a decent team. That isn't going to happen until the ACC CG, and an eventual bowl. I still expect a decent coach with a competent QB and an above average line to exploit us the same way we were in the past. Hope I am wrong and eating crow in January, though.
 
I know Diaz wants to get that PPG number down too.. Sucks because we have terrible special teams and have given some teams short fields and they steal points in weird ways (going for it on 50 before halftime fsu, Willis gun flag against UNC, multiple punt returns by fsu setup score or they house it)

But teams are rarely driving on us. Think we had one bad qtr against Toledo, other than that we been balling..

I dont know how they cant close guys for this defense with regards to recruiting. We should have guys lining up to play in this defense

Great post. Made me think of that little phaggit Asante Samuel Jr post L "I don't care what happens, I love my brothers and am glad I came here" haha

And the two prior seasons to that, if there is one thing we have established about Manny's Defense over 3 years is this: We will not under any circumstances jam or even cover the slot on short routes, two to three times a game our DE and LB will be so far behind the play the only one who has a shot at making a tackle is a safety, and running quarterbacks who can hit the slot receiver on a two step drop have career games lol.

Game played out very similar to LSU, offense (failed 4th down at midfield) and special teams (punt return TD) gifted the other team points, but Manny's defense only gave up limited plays, then smothered them in the second half.

Difference is we turned FSU over and Perry came through with some clutch throws while Malik floundered when the door opened for a comeback.

Not yet for me I want to see when we actually stay in conference play and see what we look like play a team with a pulse week in and week out. Special teams has not been helping him I can say that.

UNC and FSU are both in conference and I'm pretty sure they both wanted to win.
 
Give Manny props for learning from his mistakes from LSU.

We now do far less subbing, particularly at LB and DB than we did that game. We got gashed by their RB when we had 6 backups in, including a 3rd stringer in Jennings.

Havent seen anything like that outside of garbage time since
